Between the Juniata Division and your layout, I seriously may consider a black fascia on my layout- something that I've never done before.  I always went with an earth tone as if the ground had been sliced open at the edge of the layout.  But, your fascia really makes the scenery pop.

Funny, I went away from black.  Sure, it works great for popping scenery, especially the deep greens of Eastern scenery.  However, it does tend to darken the space.  For the Rio Grande Southern I went with a neutral gray/brown that was on the same color palette as the "greige" walls the basement was finished with.  It works well without darkening the room as much...plus I'm modeling a drier area.  Vegitated, yes, but the colors overall are somewhat drier than what you guys are doing.

If I were still doing East Coast I might consider black again.  However, at the same time, I do like how much brighter the layout space is without black fascia and black curtains.

Hmm.  You raise a good point, Dave, and darkening the space has always been my concern.  But, again, that looks so good on Chris' layout, that I may consider trying.  It's only a coat or two of paint after all.

For this 2x5' layout I have about 400watts of LED bulbs around it. Most of the time I make sure to look down when I flip the switch cause it's gonna be bright.

Black does work well in well lit areas and small layouts.  I like it Chris.  On round the walls layouts I tend to go neutral like an olive drab sort of color, something that highlights but not overwhelm the scenery.  Anything but that hideous bright green.

So the one little coal mine was torn out of another tiny layout I'd built. I stripped off all the trees and anything else that was worth keeping and now it's time for the trash.
