I'm bouncing all over right now. So I started a water tank  :P

I didn't want to buy a $50 wood kit just for a pile of sticks since I was going to bash it anyways. I like the one tank the Tweetsie had so I'm basing this tank off of that. http://www.urbaneagle.com/slim/Cranberry-Tank2.gif

Grabbed a $7 buck Atlas HO tank and started bending the tank walls to make a smaller dia.

OK so we go from a bent green piece of plastic to a video with the water tower basically complete. Haysus Christo.  it's no wonder there are seven layouts in your train room!

Beautiful by the way- especially love the "suspension?" bridge... :D

oops yeah I got the tower built, but not finished.

I used as much of the Atlas kit as I could, Cut the roof down, chopped the concrete footings out, etc.

Because glue and paint need to dry I hop around with projects  :P

This is a Model Power 2-6-0 that I'm converting to HOn30. At first I filed down all the boiler detail and then slipped brass tubes over it.

Then I decided to make the whole body in 3D so I cut even more of the body away.

I moved the cylinders forward and made them larger to match the prototype drawings.

Primer cylinders are 3D. Original cylinders on the left.

Small loco update.
The 2-6-0

The tender trucks are from an Atlas S2, they will get archbar sideframes.

And I'm working on turning a Bachmann 2-8-0 into a Lawndale loco.

Those little 2-8-0s are handsome!  I've always been partial to the D&RGW/RGS C-classes as the quintessential narrow gauge consolidation, but I really like the look of those Lawndale engines.

Yeah those Lawndale locos look like caricatures of a narrow gauge loco.  :)

Chris333, you are a great modeler.  I enjoyed your Erie HCD build and now looking at your HOn30 build it shows what great work you do. The general store looks really great and now scratch building steam.  Am waiting for future updates as you and Dave Vollmer go down the HOn3/30 path.  Great modeling.  later, Craig

Ah soooo I'm just gonna post this stuff here. To speed up progress on the layout I started another layout, yeah that's it. This one is just a small mini layout 18x42" and 5.5" curves. I got the idea from a 3x1.5' "Dawson Creek" layout being built overseas by James Hilton, here is his blog:
https://paxton-road.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Dawson%20Creek
He has made a ton of locomotive kitbashes in 009 scale. His layout is based on the many small railroads in the Yukon. I think his dock scene was based on the Dolly Varden Mine railroad in Alice Arm, BC, but I know that is where mine is based  :)

So pics?

Just a simple frame of 1x2's with 2 layers of 1" foam. The roadbed is 1/8" hardboard that I sealed with Kiltz oil based primer (why it's white). The track is 3 pieces of Railcraft code 55 HOn30 flex that is pretty old, I bought it on Facebook. Turnouts are handlaid of course

Here is my dock area with those recent structures I built:

That foreground track will be a dump trestle.

Also I'm not modeling an inlet in the BC or Alaska. The Dolly Varden served a silver mine. My layout will run coal and I guess the dock will be along a river. We'll just say it is in southern Ohio.

More to come... So far everything you see is only about 1.5 weeks worth of work.

Threw some foam down and glued up Cripplebush rocks, blended in with Sculptamold.
