Are you a member of the informal Olympia group? They're a great bunch. Most are NMRA members, so most of what they do is aligned with 4th region as well.

I try to make the occasional once a month Friday get together at the Courthouse when there are no conflicts.

Nope, I haven't had my layout on any of the tours, and I sort of doubt I will as I'm not too keen on strangers coming through my house, especially as this year's tour list was found posted on the bulletin board at the RC hobby shop in Lacey recently (complete with all the addresses).
Just had my layout on Oly Ops, though.

I ran into them at a model train show in Seattle last month and showed them photos of what I had. They called last night to ask if they could come by this weekend to do the photography. They do all the work, and I’m really interested in seeing someone else’s take on what I have built. They’ve covered a few layouts around here in the past (the December issue on their website has a cover for a layout in Olympia that I’ve seen a couple of times in person). They’re out of Spokane, so they use a lot of stuff in the northwest corner of the country. They told me they were happy to document a layout with a southeast concept, as they have subscribers around the world. It’s not a free publication, though, so people are going to have to pay for the content to see it. I recently got a CD of a couple of years of their publications, and I liked their work.

P51 I have admired your layout every time I've seen pictures or videos of it.   It has more than outstanding modelling but captured a flavor too.  It certainly warrants an article for all to see.

The Trackside Model Railroading magazine shoot went well on Saturday. They were there for about 5 hours and shot still/video the entire time (including a 360 video with a camera shaped like a soccer ball). I'm really looking forward to seeing the end results!

This week, I got a lot completed. I took the remains of a busted Bachmann 2-6-0 and made a scrap load of the locomotive parts and a water car out of the tender:





I also lettered an excursion car with my own decals to make it an Army troop car, and weathered it with washes and powders:

I got this 1/43 scale TN highway patrol car via eBay over the weekend (the brand is “First responder” but I don’t think they make these anymore as I haven’t seen one of these listed on eBay in a very long time). As they got most of it right (even the right codes for the license plate), I decided just to give it a light weathering and that would be it for now, until I can find a correct patrol officer figure to stand next to it. I am still unclear if the paint job is historically accurate as info on that agency during WW2 seems to be a little scarce, but for now it’ll do fine. I don’t intend on having it on the layout all the time, as I rotate some of my non-military wheeled vehicles through the layout on my whims.
