American Limited Core kit instruction sheet

Does anyone have a scanned copy of the instruction sheet that identifies the parts in the American Limited core kit?

I just got some of the sprues from San Juan Car Co (roof, floor, and ends from the ALM core kit), but no underbody details.

I don't know squat about passenger car underbodies so I figure the instructions might help me figure out what is needed.

Thanks, so I guess the instructions would be useless for determining underbody details, right?

San Juan is not currently producing the underbody details, just the parts I indicated in my post above.

I'm not sure if I will need to fabricate undebody details or what. I want to get one of the Rapido 102075 light weight sleep detail kits to see if anything useful is included (unfortunately no pics on Rapido site):

I do like that we're still able to get the basic parts of the core kits...
but, not having access to the underbody sprue is a little problematic; I don't know of any other source for generic underbody details other than what may be available on Shapeways.
I still have 6 complete AL kits but they're all slated for projects...

Try contacting Bill Denton at Skytopmodelsdotcom, he has castings available that might work that have the details for some of the car castings he makes. Details might not be right, but if it's on the track, very hard to tell!

There are some underbody details available on Shapeways.  Generators and such are/were available, and show up on eBay from time to time.  Much of the underbody detail is essentially boxes, and could be fabricated.  There were instruction sheets that designated the various different AC parts on the sprues, but the actual arrangement of the battery boxes, tanks and brake parts varied from car to car- so you need drawings or photos of the car in question (or the very rare, underbody photo), to know where to locate things.  A "generic" option is to copy the underbody of a Kato or other well manufactured car similar to the one you are building, and that might get you close.

These were used on the Amtrak Mountaineer, which I am attempting to model.

I recently purchased some of the sprues from San Juan as well.  For underbody details I had thought about trying to use passengercar frames from Kato that you get when you buy a coach body shell.  You get an interior as well this wayl.  But both the smoothside and corrugated coaches are sold out presently at Kato presently.  Guess I waited too long.   I have some older, no, ancient, ConCor passenger cars with the underbody details cast as a single piece of metal.  While it's not as detailed by today's standards I'm hoping it gives the affect of the underbody details and gives the car much needed weight.  I looked on Shapeways and didn't see anything that reached out to me.  But after I order the car sides for what I am planning on doing (P&LE cars used in their commuter service) I'll see how those metal underbody details look and re-visit Shapeways if need be.  Any thoughts or advice appreciated of course. This thread it just popped up at the right time I just got mine late last week.

Similar but different car (EDIT: I am modeling 1975, if I understand correctly Amtrak later further rebuilt (with HEP?) some of the 1400 series cars and re-numbered them into the 1610-1617 series - they must have altered the windows a bit too). But it is probably a good start.

The old AL directions do identify most of the underbody parts.  Unfortunately I have no way to scan and post it.  They do not tell you what a particular car had or the location on the car.  the "Passenger Car Library" volumes by David Randall and the 3 volume set of "Passenger Car" plans by Carstens Publishing are great sources for this information.
