Atlas N Scale 1973 Ford F-100 Pickups

Since new tooling for injected molded N scale vehicle models does not come around all that often, I felt this model deserved its own topic.  Atlas displayed the initial test shots from the new tooling for the 1973 Ford F-100 at Trainfest.  Did anyone get a chance to see these models close up?

I have not seen them in person, only on the Atlas Trainfest video on their Facebook page. They are definitely on my list. Thank you Atlas.

There will definitely be some of them coming to the Grande Valley Railway.This town and county are loaded with those old trucks.

Cool.   I drove one of these as my first vehicle.  It was a few years newer than 73 but same general look.   It had a 460 in it and my dad quickly decided that I was either gonna kill myself or bankrupt the family via gasoline and tires.       I loved it though....never lost a race for sure.

Like Rich, I watched the Trainfest video on Facebook.  I also did some screen captures while viewing the video at full screen.  And while the "photos" are fuzzy, I am very impressed with this model.   

I still own three F-250s with this body style, one 1974 regular cab, one 1976 regular cab and one 1976 SuperCab.  So, seeing these old Fords in rural Idaho must be similar to what Johnathan is seeing in Michigan.  They seem to be everywhere. 

A few years ago, Idaho changed the emission testing law to exempt any vehicle built in 1980 or earlier from testing.  That change to the statute brought a lot of the 1960s and 1970s vintage pickups out of storage and back onto the streets!   

And, I can sort of relate to Doug's experience.  My dad had a 1976 SuperCab with the 460.  It could pass anything on the road except for a gas station.  (Sorry, but I could not resist that old joke.)  On the other hand, my SuperCab has the 300 inline 6, and while chasing UP 844 through the Blue Mountains of Oregon, the three other railfans with me could not believe that I could not keep up with that steam engine while climbing the mountain grades.   

Well, I am still hoping someone at Trainfest got a good look at these, and will be able to give us a first hand report!

My 1974 Montana ranchers/miners/loggers will be looking for these as well.  They're getting a little tired of repairing their 1950s trucks.

This is great news for my bi-level autoracks! 

And for the back roads of Appalachia.

Now I just need some Mavericks or Pintos for the tri-levels ...

This is one of the no brainer vehicles needed in N scale, it should be a decent seller, another no brainer is a late 60's or early 70's station wagon, these things were everywhere when I was growing up.

If these are a good seller maybe ATLAS would consider expanding the line to include step sides and supercabs.A crewcab would be great too.

I'm just happy they're producing something from this era. As it was, I was figuring to have very few vehicles on the layout for a couple of reasons, now there's opportunity to park a few period-correct (and popular) trucks in locations where it makes sense.
