I've been a fan of this trainset ever since it was. Unlike the Aerotrain, it had a genuine chance to be a game-changer.

Frankly, I would buy a 3-car set in the USDOT/demo scheme. It is the only plausible... heck, even reasonable excuse to have one to run on my pre-Amtrak UP layout.

I've been told they got it up to over 200 kmh on the Kingston sub.  It also hit a truck at a grade crossing near here on the debut run

If you go back to look at some of what was said about Puddy you will find where Jason mentioned that he promised him that they would do the Turbotrain.  This is a significant step up for N-scale, one that will likely be a huge hit even if they cost a bit more than typical models.  I'd like to believe that our friend is looking down with a smile and a tear...

Why waste their time with an N scale Turbo? I'm only going to buy like two or something. Hah, this is good news!

I'll likely buy one in memory of @Puddington. And because it's cool.

Didn't go anywhere near that fast on the Belleville Sub... detours.

Awesome news! As mentioned above, Jason promised Mike that he would come through with this project and It is nice to see it done so quickly.
I'm not worried  about heavyily-engraved-details. I have done such a good job pounding that fact into the Rapido staff's heads that it just won't happen again. I also lowered my expectations - after all Rapido, MTL, and Kato are all separate companies.

I remember hearing stories about planned tests out west (Calgary to Edmonton?) that were canceled due to the track conditions west of Hornepayne Ontario.
Does anyone know if there is any truth to this and if a trainset was actually sent west and turned around due to track issues?
