Ok, so I get the smoke stack support and antenna.  But there are 3 holes in the template for the light assembly, but when you build the assembly it will have 4 legs.  Can anybody explain this or show me a picture of how it's suppossed to look?

@Shipsure ?

I wonder why the directions show three mounting locations (which I am interpreting as drilling locations).

I can't answer that.  This is probably more than you want to know: http://modelingthesp.com/Rolling_Stock/Cabooses_II.html it goes into detail into each variation of SP caboose includes notes on roof details. Includes plenty of notes from SP Guru Tony Thompson

The EsPee was not the most standardized railroad....if you really want proof, look at the five variations of their SD9's...when delivered (let's not even go over the shop modifications or rebuilds). As for the caboose, when shopped, items were typically moved or replaced. The best thing to do is either mail me the roof details or look at a picture of your prototype on the date that you are modeling....

I managed to come up with something, and it looks like the MT etchings are 4 legs with one light.  I'll get a photo of it today.

There are three legs for the light and one conduit for the electrical that goes straight down from the light. It sometimes looks like four legs, but it isn't. Three angled legs, one straight conduit. Same for the antenna.
