santa fe cajon-ish 1947 in a Kansas basement

It's time i start a report i guess as cajon pass is being reconstructed in my basement.
Location/era: cajon pass 1947
Size: 10'x29' w/ a 2'x10' jut in one wall
2 levels
Upper level 54" tall(Cajon-Summit)
Lower level 36" (San Bernardino)
Code 55 on the mains and code 40 on other than main
Min radius:  24"
Construction is in modular sections that mount permanently together around the perimeter of the room.  We plan on selling and buying land in the next 5 years or so.

East and west mains tie together at each end for continuous running.
Overview:
Leaving San Bernardino eastbound(lower level right to left) ,  you head towards 1 helix under Sullivan's curve up to cajon into Sullivan's curve and pine lodge down the 29'wall. To the right of pine lodge the westward main disappears as i don't want the scene too compressed showing both mains on an 18"-24" wide shelf. From pine lodge to the tunnels at alray, ill only be modeling the eastward main and siding. Just east of the alray tunnels,  the westward main reappears as the layout hooks right down the 8'wall. From here the mains come back together for the tight curve info summit.
At the right edge of summit is a left turn into the helix that heads down to staging and a return loop where both mains tie together.
The hardest part so far was locating the center piece of the room (Summit) so i could adjust the track plan.
This is definitely a work in progress and changes will be made as construction continues.

Whoa. Nice start. Where does the as-built section fit/what gets built next?

Im working from summit to cajon. Next will be the section with the alray tunnels and where the westward main disappears.

Do you have a track plan of what the finished product will look like?

Sure wish I had that nice a space to build a layout

Chris,  the basement wad a very long project. I literally did everything besides the carpet by myself. This rooms about a third of the finished basement. I hung well I've 60 sheets of sheet rock down there.
I do have a track plan but no photos of it. I'll get one posted later this week.

Progress continues! Not bad for a couple hours right?

 I should have the upper level benchwork completed sometime tomorrow hopefully. All that's left up top is cajon and Sullivan's curve in the corner.

The lower level will be the San Bernardino  A yard/station/roundhouse/staging.

I guess i need to call Charlie at Show Me Modelrailroad and get my flex track ordered! After November 17th, im on vacation until January 3rd so I should be able to have all track layed on the upper level and get to building a helix for summit and the one under Sullivan's curve down to San Berdoo!

Following with interest! You are covering the gap in my layout between Colton and Victorville!l

I spent a good part of the evening today chasing coupler parts having flown off my work table and onto the floor... how do you figure to resolve the carpet vs. small modeling bits problem?

Otto, summit is at 54" although it might move up even more after seeing how low the benchwork is on the other wall. I don't want san berdoo to be too low. Im most likely going to move it up 56-58" 
I do have some rough sketches that i can post up later but it's an ever changing processwhile i see how the scenes will look as i go.

C855, i do a majority of my modeling in a hotel room at this point. If i do any modeling at home, it's usually at the kitchen table but i will be adding a desk down there. At that point ill just have to be careful!
