So If I were a single window coach, what version would I want to be in N Scale and why?

 :D
Working on upcoming new tooling and trying to get my ducks in a row for submission.  As always thank you for your thoughtful and FOCUSED input.  LOL

I would throw this out as an idea - in HO Branchline (now Atlas) chose the NYC prototype:

I'm guessing they went through some sort of brain twisting to decide on this prototype. :P

Good luck Joe! 8)

I'd love these Reading cars:

They're not very "generic" though, so might not meet your needs.

Hate to play the emotional card but...
How about a Canadian Pacific car.

Would be a good tribute to our friend Pud...

Personal favorites (or put another way, this is what I will be modeling with whatever single window coach is chosen)-

http://rr-fallenflags.org/el/pax/erie-co1102bbd.jpg (goes with the baggage car).

http://rayspics.railfan.net/ln2502Pas.jpg  or http://www.northeast.railfan.net/images/ln1901.jpg (the latter if you really, really must have symmetrical windows)

That said, most of the suggestions from others would also work for me as "close enough."  I also remember years ago, it was suggested that the car MT had planned was a CB&Q car that I recall being fairly generic.  Not sure anyone from MT said that, but it was stated with assurance in several discussion groups.

The first one is after it received AC and larger restroom lounges... the blanked window was because of some AC equipment.

Honestly the NYC prototype would be wider spread as far as basically fitting a number of lines more so than others already mentioned... you can find similar cars on a number of roads that had single windowed coaches.  The second L&N one above would be a bit more interesting to me because of the small bathroom windows because of its similarity to the N&W's "Pg" coaches but really hope for something rather generic so that it can go further...

Seconded.  Definitely the most ubiquitous prototype.

I thought we had been through all this a few times now. I'd also go with the Branchline car.

What about the car that is already tooled? Didn't MTL already tool one and the problem was cooling down before removing from the mold.

Second. There's nothing super distinctive, like that Reading round roof, and I think it would be an awesome nod to Pud.

That and I have to vote for something other than NYC. :D

Agreed, the CPR coach would be quite meaningful, I would just want to specify the following. Geoff, aka Angus Shops, has made the 1300 series in kit form already. It would therefore be logical to build the more generic looking 1400, 1800, or 980 series. These cars did not have the hallway at one end, so had a slightly different window placement.

The car you are showing is exactly what I meant :)
I just wanted to make sure Joe wasn't considering doing the 1300 series coach when Geoff has already made a kit for it.
