G&W to buy P&W

What about the Louisiana road a few years ago that painted their diesel fluorescent green, hot pink, and silver, with a large purple dinosaur?  It was in the magazines at the time.

As for bright orange in the East, it probably reduces grade crossing collisions.  Dark colors in a wooded area tend to disappear.

I don't disagree about bright paint schemes, but that thing is a mess. There's a real lack of cohesiveness.

It reminds me of naval dazzle camouflage. Regionally inappropriate dazzle camouflage.

Haha!  The G&W is the new Borg.  I'm sure that @wm3798 will look forward to the G&W's paint scheme on yet more locomotives with this merger.

Yeah, that and the State Legislature in Harrisburg doing everything they could to keep the B&O from getting through to Pittsburgh first.  And the State handing over its right of way of Public Works, and the State dumping millions into the PRR... Not saying it wasn't a good investment, or that it didn't happen elsewhere, but to describe it a as a feisty little upstart is a bit of a stretch...

Good colors are all a matter of taste.  Here in Roseburg, the Central Oregon & Pacific locomotives look a hell of a lot better than the wimpy baby-blue leased GP-20d locomotives they had prior to G&W taking over.  Positive comments all around town.

I kind of like the G&W paint job on the GCR that I saw in Vidalia.  And they were friendly as could be when I went into the office to talk to them.

I almost went through Vidalia a few weeks back, opted for a different route though (I drop the ball on my navigating duties and Google took over).

Oh, and their orange and lemon yellow paint scheme is second only in horrendousness to this:

The (PN's) color selection isn't bad, but the busy-ness of the striping makes me want to have a seizure, or throw up a little in my mouth.  I think the PN is hoping for a merger with the W&LE.  The G&W's scheme screams ugly.


Side note, is the G&W associated in any way with the former WC?

I got some decent photos of equipment on the interchange tracks there but most locomotive movements were going on at night and there is NO lighting at the tracks.
