Agreed.  I have used decal stripes to "paint" for container door hardware and windshield gaskets and it really makes them pop.  But Ron's use of red letters for the fuel fillers is brilliant.  Very nice work.

Nice, Ron!  The outcome and the review, very informative in product data and how-to content.  The number boards will haunt me tonight though.  Curious design choice by the manufacturer.

I suspect that it simplified the already-complex mold for the shell.  As I mentioned, If it was me, I would have glued them to the unpainted shell, filled the gap around them then primed and painted the shell.

I agree that using decal stripes for handrails and red lettering fro fuel filler and gauge are very handy tricks.  They would be perfect to be posted in the modeling tips thread currently active in the N and Z forum.
