Working on the Manzanita street section of the ALTA this weekend. Just finished up this nice city classics Liquor store.

I like that sidewalk color . Usually sidewalks stick out as unrealistic , yours does not .

I work this weekend, Our town has it's annual "Oregon trail days" celebration this weekend, so I will be driving a truck in the parade on saturday, then, most likely, asked to hang around and man the stations afterwards, and I have shift on sunday. So I got my modeling done earlier in the week. I painted the "T24-66."



In addition, I have always had a soft spot for weird locos. I have a old Atlas/Roco Davenport switcher that had a bad motor and a bad gear. I found a gear and axle that would work, and I am in the process of putting a can motor in it. Of course this is taking some major mods to make it happen. I got the initial bash working, I just need to work out the details and modify the shell.

I've been getting some good time in on my 2x4' layout. Track is own, land forms are mostly finished and I just got a base layer of brown paint down. Its good to be making progress again!

Here's the latest on my scratched Caliente California Post Office.  First, a test fitting of the mostly complete building onto the terraformed layout:



I pulled the building and did some grass work:

Further ground cover work and final placement of building:



The wiring's done now - I used automotive style plugs, that way if I ever need to move it I won't destroy it in the process.  Tons more to do in terms of weathering and detailing this scene; and I'm itching to get started on the building to the right...

Progress at a Price!
Progress always seems to have a price on my layout. There were 2 areas of track work that have been giving me migraines. One has severe accessibility issues and I will need to wait until I can get a second pair of hands to fix it. The other was merely inconvenient to reach but I could handle on my own (at least that was my thinking). In one back corner, I had a curve, on a grade, that was causing derailments on long hopper trains with increasing frequency. This needed to be corrected before an upcoming Op Session.

Determined to put an end to this, I carefully removed an intervening power plant and planned to remove a section of flex track to fix it. Naturally my "spasticity" exceeded my prepared work area and the Buzby Bros. cement mixing plant experienced an earthquake (floor drop) destroying two of the storage bins. Since the damage includes brass railings, the plant production will be crippled until I can secure talent (way beyond mine) to fix it. Oh well, progress always comes at a price on the PRSL!

I attended our NJ Division Arduino clinic this morning. It was really interesting and informative. Kurt Thompson ran it for us, here are two pics I managed to grab. First up, the basic setup with a few LEDs lighting:



The second was a Block Signal setup that for some reason no one could get. I'm going to be working on it this weekend to see. We think it was the photo-resistor setup that was incorrect:



Last night I was the Division Street operator on Rick Bickmore's Harrisburg Terminal Railroad. This was by far the hardest assignment I've ever on his layout and that includes running both of his steel mill sites
