Peter:  No, the Z scalers won't have to convert anything.  The existing wheels run fine on code 40, included ME code 40 with a third rail added, and I tested them on "code 32", brass strip soldered to PC ties.  They'll even run in spiked code 40 if the spikes are angled and driven just right.

Peter:  Not knowing how well you know Z scale, yours seemed like a reasonable comment.  It seems that every scale so far invented has gone through at least one "change all the wheels to use better track" period, so why not Z?  Unfortunately, that day hasn't come yet. 

In my case, code 40 would be perfect for my narrow gauge, with its 1970s coal and ore traffic, but "proper" Z scale track would need smaller rail, and will probably have to be similar to Peco's code 55.  Cast spikes would be so small they wouldn't jold anything, or would have to be cast in some material that probably couldn't be cut with standard hobby tools.

But Z scale already have nice wheelsets from 3 different places. FVM, Full Throttle, and AZL.

Sorry I'm not excited till I see code 40 or smaller in Z.

Start of a kitbash.  The flat is Alan Curtis/ED Models, the plane is a plastic kit (I think it was a 1/200 737, so at 1:220 it scaled out to a 777 or something... can't find my notes now).   Still need to do the clearance rack, and get a cover on the partner 60' flat.

If you want a correctly scaled 737 fuselage (and the ancillary bits) in Z, N and H0, go to http://wolfbonegames.com/ . Friend of mine and I just started on our new Boeing Train project (the one we built a decade ago used the 1:200 scale 737 fuselage).

1. This would have been a great time to offer C40 N scale track products along with C40 Z scale so they can share rail sections.

2. Z scale track announcements but we still don't have C55 in Concrete ties, #12/14 (or larger) switches, single and double slips, or double crossover.

Just asking Daniel... But is there an issue with Micro Engineering's code 55 with concrete ties?

Thanks for the link, though he only has the ancillary bits showing in N on his Shapeways store.
