I'm saying slide. Or to use the technical term "slope stability failure."

Got my two M1a's weathered up a bit, added coal to the bunkers, and added a FVM (formerly unimate) coupler to the front of one so I can double head.

How many are there?  Lately it's been all over the board, but typically 1954. Late Sixties is also fun.

I love those Pennsy engines, you guys are lucky (and I feel a bit jealous....)

But now something from the left coast...
I decided to tackle the Summit (that would be California) Wye. Why you ask?
Well because it was the turning point for helpers from both San Bernardino and Victorville during the steam and transition eras and an important part of the Cajon Pass operations scheme. The Wye section is removable as it sits over a walkaround operator isle with a 56" duckunder, where the very thin fascia is. I made it as thin as possible to maximize the clearance underneath. We'll see how nimble my operators are...some not so much :?

Anyhow, the pics below illustrate my cardboard "cut-and-fill" technique that I find very useful and lightweight: just 1x3 frames with 1/2" plywood trackboards, cardboard cut and fill segments, cardboard strip webbing and "specialist bandage" and plaster/sculptamold overlays.
Pics below, including a construction one way back when...

Regards, Otto K.
Edit: dang the pics are out of sequence and I'm not smart enough to fix it...

"altohorn25":

Fabulous.

Have always thought the (pre-war) M1 was one of the best looking of all steamers; right up there with the "4 Aces" and one class (I can't recall, right off) of the Rio Grande's 4-8-4s...

Very little model railroading this week, but did replace the light fixture in the train room. When it went out, I was thinking how awesome it could have been to have street lights and lighted structures...  :facepalm: :D

I was about to get rid of this car, then I thought maybe it has some potential:
1950 Ford Custom Deluxe.  Worth keeping after all.

My friends Mom had a 50 Ford about 6 years old . IIRC it had a flathead and an oil bath air filter . I was 10 then , in '56 .

Is that a 1:144 diecast miniature or a true N scale model?  Whatever the body is made of, it looks better (thinner) than the Classic Metal Works models.

Nice job on your version.
