Made some more progress on my wood shed for an as yet determined lumber yard scene for a yet to be built module/layout/diorama.

Added corrugated roofing using a modified version of this:
https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=38108.0

I tried the white glue, and the result was satisfactory enough to use...  The several white patches on this side, and more on the back side were the white glue method.  The rest I made with a mixture of white glue and pewter gray acrylic paint, using about 4 coats fully dried on the original.

Instead of pulling the whole sheet up at once, I scribed smaller panels and peeled them up.  Not only were they thinner and more flexible than the glue version, the paint grabbed enough of the silver paint I had applied to the original roof to make them virtually "finished"

Here's a look at the original roof panel juxtaposed to the peel and stick roofing it begat...

I really liked the way the roofing settled in around the original details of the roof panels I used as a base... seen here:

Next I have to paint the bits that are still white, and put an overall patina of rust, and also to dull down the walls and paint the timbers.

By the way, this is my subject for the No New Model Modeling Challenge, which you can join here: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=38288.0

Took out the temp wiring rat's nest and made a slightly neater and more permanent rat's nest under my 17"x 27" layout:

Don't have the proper gauge red/black for the switch machines but that will be easy. Plus I still need two kato turnout controllers so not a high priority  8)

Inspired by the  :tommann: 's small layout thread, the Treaton layout and Chris333's inspirational micro industrial layout, construction has been on and off for the past few weeks:

Pretty much the Treaton plan tweaked to use my new and very beautiful S-2. Mostly a mock up here with what was on hand here, not nearly close to finalizing buildings and roads. Consistent operation is the priority before I get too crazy.

Thanks for looking.

@Blazeman made the trip over today for me to try some more decoder installations.  I managed to get two done while he was here, and have two more on workbench once I figure out direction I want to head with them.  ER sharks now have IMFTA/B boards from TCS installed in them.  Could not get them programmed to a 4-digit address for some reason, but I did manage to, once again, send the address to 12 other locomotives that were on the layout via JMRI.  Now they are addressed to 2-digit 20.  B unit runs a little faster than A but I didn't mess with any cv values.  Working now on two Lifelike SW8/900 that will have M1's in.  Have to decide whether I want to cut front frame so they fit, or take cab weight out and put decoder I there.  I also have a SW8/900 to put decoder in but will use a Digitrax 126M2 for the MT 1500.  Received that today for replacement I mailed in that had no motor control.  MT1500 now has the TCS version installed.

Unlike Europe where the locos have dual cabs (and had them pretty much since the first electrics were introduced over 100 years ago), in North America they still need to turn locos around.  Especially nowadays with all those wide cabs. :D

One turntable can spin thousands of locomotives, but what's the cost of adding another cab complete with the control stand and all of the associated wiring to one thousand locomotives? Of course if you always run two locomotives back to back, you never have to spin any of them :)

And many hood units had dual controls, so there was no front or rear, operationally.  If looking down the boiler of a steamer wasn't a problem, the long hood of a diesel wouldn't be, as the N&W and Southern proved.  The only ones that had to be turned were cab/cowl units, where there was no rear visibility.

More progress and train running (we call it testing...).....

THE "NO NEW" Challenge diesel servicing, was a power station is now in place at the center of Puddington Junction.... I quickly got rid of the background noise....

Main line testing of trains up to 20 cars has been done; if 19 make it around then the car gets blamed.....

It appears Action Red is catching on.....

Finally; I said in our video I'd explain the Canadian battle tank.... when CN delivered our full size RDC there was a Leopard tank on flat car ahead. I'm representing that with my foobie Leopard on  flat car.... Hey I know its not the right tank, a bit wrong but it looks cool......

Thanks!

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Agreed!

At first, I thought they were crappy models, then I realized that they make everything ELSE look crappy by comparison.

And then you hit the third phase of this thought train and realize they modeled a riveted car as if it had welded panel distortion!  Doh!

Ahahah. I never even realized there was a distinction.

Ok, I feel better about the rest of my fleet then... lol.

Thanks, Richie!
The trick was to use the more flexible acrylic paint to mold the corrugated metal, then cut it into small panels that were applied individually.

The holes were molded into the old Blue Coal Mine kit roof, I just left a few panels open around the pre-existing holes, letting the molded in framing show through.

Most of my (reduced) hobby time recently has been going in to preparing, crating and shipping Brian Pate's Klondike Mines Railway to its new home in the Dawson Klondike Visitors Association in the Yukon where it will be seen by between 30 and 40 thousand people per year! I and two other modellers will travel the 3000 km to Dawson City in early April, flying to Whitehorse then driving 6 hours across the Klondike.  This has been quite an adventure...but when a museum offers to display a model railroad of the KMR's quality to so many of the general public you really have to find a way to make it happen.

For a bit more info and photos, here is a thread on MRH  http://model-railroad-horbbyist.com/node/25761.

What time the C&W has been given has gone in to advancing the Castlegar station scene to finished. It still needs weeds and properly seating the freight shed.

Have a great weekend!
