The DC Master is an analog control box for DC users. It is used to activate all of the sound features the BlueLine and Paragon2 Series engines have to offer.

No mention of any other sound DCC decoder compatibility. So, I have my doubts.

How about spending another $100  (a price of an average N scale locomotive) and get yourself a fully-functioning  DCC system compatible with all DCC decoders?  Check out the NCE Power Cab at BLW: http://www.blwnscale.com/nce-dcc.htm

From the bottom of the add, "It will operate all of the BlueLine and Paragon2 sound features on an analog layout. It is not guaranteed to operate other brands of sound decoders--though reportedly does so with some."
 Did see that NCE Power Cab at BLW. Just wondering if this was a cheaper alternative.

Hes, it is cheaper, but whether it is a good alternative I can't say.  To me all the futzing around and kludging to get more sound in DC, is not really worth the limited results.  Even just to start running a sound decoder on DC requires about half a throttle.  Having true DCC unleashes the full potential and full programmability for sound decoders. If you run DC with multiple cabs, you could just replace one DC throttle with a DCC system. That will allow to run both DC and DCC trains on the same layout (and give full control of the sound effects and full throttle range of the DCC loco).
