I don't want to fence myself in, but that's near impossible to tell from the real stuff.

Awesome. If a group purchase is in the works, I want details.

@jimmo Get a pair of these while you are at it.  Simply the most versatile cutting tool I own. Very precise control, especially at the tip, spring is not too strong.  Cuts, etched frets of any thickness, cluse trim of etching tags, (you can set the edge along the blade and cut the tag perfectly flush without deforming the part) sheet metal stock up to 0.25mm thick or more- wire cutting, styrene cutting, and they have lasted for nearly 7 years.  New pair in the drawer for when my current ones hit the crapper.

These are very good, but for longer straight cuts (like cutting the fencing mesh) I think that scissors with longer blades would be much better.

@peteski Oh yes, I was simply mentioning these as an add on to the Fiskars purchase!

@Lemosteam Will there be a group buy happening? Count me in. I have a fellow modeller who is also interested.

All,

I have not arranged anything yet.

I think what I will do is set something up on the trading post for those that want some and how long x how tall so I can calculate the overall order.

Ok everybody, I started a thread for initial quantity gathering from folks here:

https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=38242.0

Please keep that thread clean so I can follow all of the requests cleanly.

You guys are going to have to trust me like we all did Max on the Neolube for this endeavour.  8) :D

@C855B @mighalpern @Kentuckian @wazzou @MVW @GaryHinshaw @ryan_wilkerson @unittrain @basementcalling and any other potential buyers ( @jimmo if you want more),

All of you have contacted me regrading the fencing.  I failed to mention or ask:

What is the minimal length, in inches, you will accept to fulfill your request?

I can envision much waste in the corners of a rectangular piece cut at 45 degrees that may result in some 3" (40 feet in N scale) - 6" (80 feet in N scale) long pieces.

I understand you would not want your 48" of material made up of 16 3" pieces  so I need some basic info on the minimal length you will accept.  Maybe the shortest piece you will be modeling, with some excess?

I would even be willing to cut to specific lengths if you specify on the trading post thread.

How to proceed please and thanks in advance for your input!

Good point. My particular vision is for industrial complexes such as the refinery I have planned, so I know my need is for probably the longest chunks you can muster, and not being able to do much with end pieces. Come to think of it, with the refinery in mind plus an auto plant and paint factory in the far-off future, I'm going back to the other thread and edit for double what I originally indicated.

I only have one planned use: along the back of the Windsor St yard area, between the tracks and the backdrop. There's a lot of linear feet there.

So, the longer the better, but smaller pieces can be used elsewhere.

I can live with 3 or 4  , 3  or 6 inch sections of 8 foot tall fencing.  I do need to make a few gates and such.  i need 2 pieces  that measure 36 inches and 24 inches for two industries , and another about 14 inches.
I'm open to small pieces.  like Ed just need to know the pricing.
thanks

Looking for 192" of 6' foot fence. No reply button available to me on the Trading Post link. Any issues there?

No issues - you just need something like 25 or 30 posts to be able to post in the Trading section - per board rules..
