That is why I suggested finding a speaker, not head phones  :P
But you can always add an amplifier to power the speaker you are going to use, if you go the headphone route.
I have seen some pretty small Bluetooth speakers before, but it has been a minute... And I have no idea if they'd fit into a N scale coach.
I want to say most Bluetooth headphones are around 1/2watt - 1 watt, and possibly 4ohms - 8ohms so they could work, but they maybe very quiet, it all really depends I suppose.
I did have a set of Motorola S9s that were pretty loud, you could hear them when they were in ear/covered what have you, and the battery life was like 6hrs talk time, and 4hr music....

If the guts can be squeezed into a car, especially if there were some provision for charging off the tracks, that would open up some very interesting possibilities.

Nope, @eric220 I plan to get the USB charging port to point out the bottom for a portable charger plug in.  Nothing will rely on track power.

1. OEM Speaker is too big, glad I bought a Bachmann K4 speaker a while back, which fits perfectly inside the car Tested it attached onto the wires and it works.

2.  Battery will fit after some slight rearrangement of the power tabs and wires.

3.  Circuit board will be a tight fit.  Going to have to push part of it out the bottom refer to first comment.

Yes @central.vermont thats a typo.

Pics later tonight.

USB uses 5 volts, so charger needs a 5V supply to charge the battery. If running on DCC a 5V power supply can be designed which could use track power and would be charging the batteries.

I didn't mean to imply that the system should rely on track power exclusively. It definitely needs a battery pack for reliability. I'm just thinking about my camera car. It has a battery that's good for several minutes. It charges off the track, so as long as the DCC system is powered up, the battery stays charged. It's a very convenient, hassle-free charging solution that provides practically indefinite power. Of course, having the USB plug accessible isn't exactly inconvenient, but it does mean that the sound system is only good as long as the battery stays charged.

In the end, just a thought. I'm not sure if adding the electronics to charge off the tracks would even be feasible. Either way, I'm looking forward to watching this build

@nscaler711 that video isn't mine!  It was already on YT. My video is just my model playing what is already there!

@eric220 , it played through the entire install, about 2 hours, until I turned it off.
