That looks great!

One thing though, I think the smokestack needs to move forward a little bit. It should be in line with the valve chests, it looks like it's slightly too far back. Or it may be the angle...

Never ever paint this model.     Just kidding, but if you do I would take macro pictures of the model from every possible viewpoint beforehand with and without the shells.

Also you should sign it somewhere Max.

If for no other reason than insurance.

100 years from now, this locomotive will be worth much if properly documented (outside of TRW). Yes I watch Antique Roadshow.  This model will eventually end up in a museum.

I am not kidding Max.

Not to be morbid, but this model and your documentation of it are simply incredible and must be preserved in your afterlife.

Gareth,
You are correct on both counts.  Yes, the stack is a hair too far back, and yes, the photo angle makes it look worse than it actually is.  If I had my druthers, I'd slide the cylinder assembly backward a bit rather than move the stack.  I don't know if I can manage that.   But yes, I agree, I think I can get that stack off there without damaging it and nudge it forward just a tiny bit.

Thank you, John.  I am honored deeply by your comments.
Funny you say that about painting it.   I am going to paint it, but to be honest, I have mixed feelings about it because I know that even with weathering highlights to bring up the detail, it will never be possible to appreciate all the work that has gone into it the way one can when looking at it like this.

... and remember, it ain't done!  There are 39 tasks on my work list.  Tender rivets, brake shoes, brake cylinders and piping below the cab, boiler steps, handrails...   It is still a formidable list, but at least it is a straightforward project from here on out.  Just one foot in front of the other and it will get there.

Mark,
Thanks!
Here's one I posted back in May.  It doesn't have the domes or a lot of the detail on it yet in this video, but
you can see how it runs.

As for a National, who knows.  I enjoy the big NMRA shows, but Kansas City is pretty far from me (next year's National).

I just took the time to go through your latest detailing efforts on your 0-6-0 Max.  Quite inspiring, to say the least!  I find your thought processes at least as interesting as your techniques.  Thanks for the insight.  I'm waiting with anticipation what you're going to do with the backhead and crew!

Cheerio!
