Saw them. Era? Regions commonly found? Ladings?  I see GN, BN & BNSF, so can I assume some are still on the rails?

The era for these is mid 60s to at least the 90s I believe, the lading is food products there's info on the WOT sight.

I doubt that one would see a GN car today, as the factory paint on the WOT cars would be 50 years old.  Even the newest Big Sky Blue repaint, if any of these were repainted, would be 45.  There were still a few GN cars in the early 2000s, when I was in the Northwest on vacation, but they were very rare.

As for regions, they probably turned up across the US, and likely in Canada as well.  I have a note that I saw one of the GN cars in the 80s, no specific date, in Huntington, WV.  As Unittrain said, they seem to have hauled mostly canned or packaged foods, so anywhere there was a food distributor receiving stuff by rail one could appear.

The GN car really should have a roofwalk.  Adding one wouldn't be hard, but moving the brakewheel would be, so I probably won't bother.

I think a couple of the Frisco cars also made it in original paint into the 2000's...

At least one of the GN cars made it to 1990.  Here's 200017 in Bayview Jct., Ontario, on Jan 10, 1990.  It's weathered, but all of the lettering is still there:

I shot these two GN cars back in 1993. 200086 at the BN yard in Eola and 200114 at Rochelle IL.

Great shots Bob, thanks for sharing! Got any more 1993 freight car photos online?

Those pictures alone ought to be enough for a couple of our resident rust bucket brigade members to open their wallets.   :tommann:

James,
I do have more my buddy and I shot in the 90's. We concentrated  mostly on fallen flags. I could start a new post in the prototype forum if there's any interest.

Looks like the brake hardware was lowered and the roofwalks removed on at least some of the cars, so the GN model is accurate for the post-merger period. It would look good rusted-up.

There's always interest here for proto freight car photos from earlier eras - post away!
