Joe does this mean you will be going to your own chassis? If so, will the shell be redesigned to the right width?

Ouch.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

Here's an idea, why don't we wait until MTL actually tells everyone why there's a delay/cancellation before we start a multiple page thread that gets mean spirited and eventually locked without actually adding anything concrete to the discussion..? I'm guessing they have a legitimate production or design issue they are forced to address and have been good enough to inform the market as opposed to "just not delivering".
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Sounds to me like they have found a solution to provide a better product.  Sounds good to me!

Says the guy who continues to point out that MTL can't figure out tooling on a single window coach...

I think Puddington would be happy if ANYONE made a good single window coach, not specifically MTL.

I also suspect that if he wants one, he'll have to have his employer make it, because it doesn't look like anyone else is going to.

are you really so uptight that 0.0375 inches are going to make a difference?

Short of my tongue in cheek signature which has been the same plea for a single window heavyweight coach for many years, and as my own company hasn't made one thus understanding the difficulty,  I don't recall making any negative comments about MTL and single window coaches....they are trying and that's all anyone can ask......  I certainly haven't complained about hood width issues only Superman could see....

I would assume they fix the frame.  Redoing the shell would be like tearing down your house than rebuilding it, because you needed to change a light bulb.

You don't have to...some folks root around looking for problems.

At this point anything is on the table.  Spare shells and the like I assume can be had, we certainly have extras here and there.  I did put in a request to have all the plastic parts boxed and available so folks could use them on existing SW 1200 chassis if desired.  I'll check on that for you guys.

So... This incarnation of the tooling is being retired?

I am just very curious as to what happened. I'm sure glad that Conrail was in the first batch!
