As I've seen mentioned already, the couplers are the weak link in this loco. (no pun intended)  They don't close. I thought the trip pins were the problem. Cut them down, and pushed them up more into coupler. They do seem to work a little better with Z905's. Might just try to see about slapping on some 905's.
 Otherwise, I'm very impressed.
 Got the rear headlight problem fixed. Arnold actually has a cover that covers the LED. It popped off. Pressed it back in, and OK. Nice idea!
 Like to buy a couple more. But Holidays coming, and want to buy a new glove box lid for GF's '63 Stingray.;)

Ordered an additional 2 given the great Railwire comments . I hope the plastic gears ............ . Maybe the red plastic used over there has special qualities .

Yeah, the RoCo red gears had special qualities alright. If you ran the chassis around the track without the shell on and a truck retaining pin fell out, the chassis would lift up, grinding the gears and ripping off several teeth from the worm gear, rendering the loco unusable until teeth were made from bits of wire struck in there and then getting new gears from very generous Todd Treaster in 2010.

Of course, the above sequence of events didn't happen to me. I'm just speculating on what could have happened.

Just heard from my local pusher yesterday that any direct shipments from Walthers to California are tied up in a Prop 65 snafu regarding the packaging.

MTL Z905's slip right into coupler pocket. I tacked one in with Goo. Lines up with MTL coupler gauge, and the original couplers. (Though the B&M loco coupler is tilting up.)
 Of course the 905 mounting hole is forward of pilot mount hole. Have to work on this later today.

Richie, Also there are 2 different trucks. One with roller bearings, one without.  ;)
