One of the reasons European manufacturers, of almost anything, favor diagrams over lists is language issues.  They have so many languages that it's easier to print one picture, with numbers, than to provide a list in every language a buyer might read.

Does it look possible to take the body shell apart for a repaint? I'm thinking about getting some but I'm curious as to how many pieces make up the body shell and if its glued together to make it impossible to get apart without damage.

The cab windows are firmly glued in :x  But it runs great and two of them pulled 17 cars up a 2%+ grade with ease.

removed 1/2 a page of carriage returns.  -gfh

.249"   Excellent.  Standard 40" diesel wheels.  That makes them replaceable, even if one had to order some from
NWSL with the proper bore.  Yay.

Chris, I hear ya.   I would want to keep a working headlight.   Anyone know how thick that circuit board is?

If it's 1/16" that would be ripe for replacement with a tungsten sheet.

I totally dismembered, cleaned, and reassembled the model taking couple dozen photos. However I have a full day tomorrow (taking photos at a model car contest), I have to get up around 5am so I'm going to bed and won't be able to post the photos until Sunday night.  I took some photos of the inside of the shell. I can tell you that the walkway unsnaps from the cab/hood and that the cab is both snapped and glued to the hood.  I think the hood/cab can be separated with some effort.  The handrails seem to all be glued in so they will have to be pried off first.

The coupler is very unusual - it is smaller than MT but it is a split-shank design like MT.  But the surface details are more like McHenry.  But I can see that it will have problems coupling with MT couplers. I have photos which will show what is happening. Maybe some careful trimming will fix the problem.

The side clips of the cab to hood are not glued but the cab tab into the top of the hood is glued but not hard to pry loose.  Exhaust stack is glued very tightly so I left it alone.

No joy on removing the window glazing so I used Micro Mask on the few that are in the area I'm repainting.  Will know tomorrow night how that worked out.

I'm lucky, then.  I have one ordered, in BN, and they only had one unit assigned to Montana.  I shouldn't have to paint any!

The Spookshow review is up with internal pictures as well. Mark's hauled 30 cars on his layout. Pretty impressive.

Feel free to post a separate report about the couplers.  [Is this in fact the Vlk coupler?  :?]

Glad to hear this.  I'm thinking of getting one for cement plant service, where it needs to push a cut up a short, but steep grade.

OK, let's see how easy or not it is to re-assemble. I had trouble getting cab end of shell on frame. Thought it was those pesky wires. Tucked them in. Had to push down on cab for shell to click into place. But now cab LED is out of place. Have to re-open it tonight.

They look like the same couplers as on the U25C.    From the pictures.
