to be honest....

I can not say enough great things
about the weathering and all that
has been share in this thread
I just keep scrolling back through
the photos....and then look at all
my locomotives and rolling stock
and wonder how long I can be ok
with fresh from the manufacturer.
look..you all make it so tempting!

maybe just some neo-lube on a
couple old (to my collection) steam
with shining rods and wheels???

There were 70 of these cars built in 1968, they timed out in 2008 due to the 40 year rule. The cars came with the Dupont football emblem but it was take off at the first repaint. They hauled 43,000 + gals of Ethylene Glycol, none of which was used in anti-freeze as thought. It was used in synthetic fabric. I got to crawl all over one at Rice yard in Waycross GA and took 36 detail shots. I also had a copy of the original plans. I'm pleased you like it. Here's another view. Speaking of Ed's Law, I have always wondered whether it was Ed K-ski or Ed N-ski law? Or both? Just be sure not to use Reverse Polish Notation when replying to this thread.   

Ed K.  The designation came out of jest at him, because he has been vocal over the years for his contempt of the term, "There's a prototype for everything."

Now this is a true railwire thread  excellent modeling guys.  I got some MTL B&O gondolas I lengthened just getting to putting new underframes on them so their not very photo worthy yet.

Here is one I did with a custom load. I weathered two of these and made the loads for a friend's son who loves to switch gondolas into my scrapyard module.

Back before Fox Valley, there was Precision N's wagon top kit...  I used some dabbled CA glue to make the rust patch textures, and craft acrylic washes.

My weathered Laurel Valley hopper, an Atlas 90T with custom lettering, that predates the Bluford car shown in Dave's post.


More gondola abuse.  Hot soldering iron to inside provided the dents, a full load provides camouflage for the mangled interior.


And my favorite, a movable forklift dock... a Railwire Weathering Challenge project.  I ended up selling it on ebay for $20.
