That's only 14" long, It does not have to work, just look like it would be a working lift.

Modern era?  Here's a shot of the lift-bridge replacement for that Paulsboro, NJ swing bridge I mentioned. Obviously, I have a soft spot for Paulsboro. My very first paying job was with Gellenthin Barge Lines, headquartered there...   Harry

One of the coolest things I like to see is the lift bridge in Mobile Ala.

The lift bridge is actually at the MOUTH of the yard and is thus on the yard lead to the Terminal Railway Alabama State Docks.

Here is the swing bridge nearest to me...one on the CSX (L&N) just along the Mobile River, protecting an industrial canal accessing the river...

here's the bascule bridge 200 yards west of the depot in Pascagoula, MS...

here is one of the largest lift bridges that I'm familiar with, the SP bridge over the Atchafalya river in Morgan city, LA...

Some of the CSX Q trains in/out of Florida also haul Tropicana empties/loads.  Surely you've seen this on the Capital sub, no?

This is one id love to build and have it operate,
Its called the Katy Bridge, and its located 20 miles West of me in Booneville MO.
Was apart of the MKT (if you couldn't tell..)

There is a group trying to get it in working condition...

It makes it a whole lot easier if it doesn't have to operate. If you have an example of a bridge you like I can see if I can be of help designing it if you want to 3D print it (or make a diagram if you want to scratch build).

The Northwestern Pacific and California Northern have both used the Brazos Bridge:

I will post a picture of  the area on the RR that will host the Bridge, I will then find some designs

I have the AHM version of the rolling lift bridge still in the original shrink wrap. Says made in Germany right on the box. I was originally planning to use this on my rebuilt layout till I realized it is a single track ,but I need a double track version because the yard lead needs to share the bridge.

Actually this bridge would take up to much real estate on the new layout so it will go into the "Someday I'm going to sell this file".

Oh and I used a KATO double track truss bridge in it's place.
