The drawing on the BLW site show the earlier pointed nose, not the blunt nose. Don't know how authoritative the drawings are.
... Would like to see pics of a blunt nosed SDP40F
I'll bet that's what they mean by 'type 1'. Jason
Didn't they called it "phase I" using the model railroaders phases jargon?
Here you go: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3359352The blunt noses started with the second order, 540 being the first.
First of all, I have no idea about any of this because it's outside my modeling era.Second, who do you consider 'they'? Phases are modelers terms not manufacturers. In this case I could see how using 'phase' could be totally confusing when referring to the body style because of the 'phases' of the Amtrak paint.
Phases in regard to Amtrak, are Paint schemes. Phases out side of Amtrak are modelers references to differences on locomotives. Here's more on the paint schemes (Phases) of Amtrak. http://www.trainweb.org/amtrakpix/paintschemes/paintschemes.html
Boom, here is the trainset for the SDP's to pull plus a bonus two car set..http://www.featherrivertrains.com/cgi-bin/webstore/shop.cgi?ud=AwcOBwQKBQACABQUEhARHQcGAQYFAg4GBAgSEAAA&storeid=1&sortby=itemid&cols=1&c=detail.htm&t=main.detail.htm&itemid=106-081http://www.featherrivertrains.com/cgi-bin/webstore/shop.cgi?ud=AwcOBwQKBQACABQUEhARHQcGAQYFAg4GBAgSEAAA&storeid=1&sortby=itemid&cols=1&c=detail.htm&t=main.detail.htm&itemid=106-6011
