On July 15, 2015, we will announce an all-new freight car in HO & N Scale! Here are a few clues:

• Not Yet Produced in HO or N
• Less Than 20 Years Old
• Thousands Produced
• Found Throughout North America
• Rides on 100-Ton Trucks

Come back after July 15th to see this all-new car!

1. Hard to tell, but it looks like it might have blue bearing caps, which would tip it off as a car made post-2003 or so.  (not 100% hard and fast rule, but a good generalization)
2. I would rule out Intermodal, boxcar,  coal gon/hopper.  Seems to short to be a hicube boxcar.
3. Guess would be another tank car of some sort.  On FB someone guessed an NSC covered hopper which I would probably agree might be an option.

Which means, for me at least, ho-hum...

And same here, no interest... way out of my era. I try to reward Craig for stuff he does that I can use in my particular corner of the MRR world, but it's been pretty dry lately.

My bet is another tank car being used in crude oil service, but different than the one already announced. Trucks and length are in the ballpark.

It's a 65 foot gondola - 100% certainty.

ANOTHER MODERN CAR?        I bet it will be a unit train too    :scared:

BLMA might as well just get a direct cut of my salary at this point to cover another mass preorder from me

I initially ruled out gons because I thought this had been done in HO, but I won't argue with your fact.

I'd be surprised if it is a gondola, but I've been surprised before.

I'm kind of tired of this game ..

Fortunately John, it's clear that it is out of our eras so we don't have to play.  8)

I did buy a couple of F89J flats in TT for my Conrail-era roster to have some variety in the TOFC fleet ... and one CD-4000 covered hopper and one TopGon coal hopper, to support the cause.  But out of all the BLMA offerings only the ACF gons fit my New Haven era, and there are only so many gons that can be justified unfortunately.

That was my guess too....   Kind of an ugly car....

Seriously, who knows, the top could be photoshopped....   It looks 65' gondolish to me...

Don't forget, I've been guessing in this contest since the first one and have a 100% Perfect Record - of being wrong.

whatever it may be, I am thinking it is way too modern
for my 1950's era PRR
glad, nonetheless, to see new resources and products being made!
for those who can, enjoy them...

Cement Hopper maybe. Or even a non-crude tank car. Too short to be an acid tank car though.

Guys,  look at the distance between the wheels in each truck.  Then compare that to the space between the two trucks.

It's a moderately long car - 60-80 feet.   But it's coupled to a similar car - and the trucks seem to be close to the ends, unlike longer 70-80 footers.

Also, you can ALMOST read the reporting marks - stenciled on the truck frame.

Looks like 3 characters, which would likely rule out a tank car.
