Anybody know of N Scale traction motors

Kind of hard to have stand alone diesel trucks without them . Shapeways has all scales except N & Z . Anybody bashed these out of repurposed parts ?

I assume you are building a diesel house to keep these in?

If I had a layout I would  :| . Trucks on a flatcar would be more my speed .

One wonders, with the trends to micro-miniaturization and 3-D printing, whether one could anticipate FUNCTIONAL N-scale ( or O-scale, for that matter), traction motors (with DCC, of course!), anytime in the foreseeable future?

As these are available in other scales on Shapeways, why not contact the designer and ask if they would make an N scale version.  I've done this and had a great response, thanks Chris.

Worth asking.

What would be neat would be somebody doing dummy trucks with all the detailing including traction motors.

Functional traction motors in O scale have been around for years, and are common on traction models.  Of course, a traction motor in O is about the size of one of our locomotive motors, so that isn't surprising.

I suppose something like this:

Friend (and a&&hat) @MRLX1020 put this together based on a pic of the prototype shop car and sent it my way. Yes, having traction motors as detail parts would complete the look.

Also, the couple of times I've had the opportunity to wander around a maintenance facility, traction motors more or less littered the property:

Leaving a traction motor outside in the rain is a bad thing unless the motor is junk anyhow. That's why I asked about an enginehouse setting. Traction motors must always be protected as they are very expensive. Locomotive wheelsets are also sensitive to the weather as you do not want the bearing surfaces on the wheel to get rusty and pitted. Even worn wheel sets are somehow protected to prevent rust on the bearing areas.
Really the only place you would see motors is in or near a locomotive shop. You will never see them being transported on a flatcar unless they are thoroughly covered .

Its an interesting thought - the interior could then hold a ton of weight, electronics and sound equipment.

There are several H0 engines (like Kato P42 or some Bachmann units) which use powered trucks.  Not quite traction motors as an exact scale model, but the electric motors are contained in the trucks.

I tried this morning but got the message that Shapeways was down .

Before I try again if he made them in N are we going to be satisfied with the one he makes in the other scales ? My guess is no other styles if he makes them at all . Or ....

Is there obviously first gen vs 2nd gen , vs gen x styles ?
Alco , GE . etc ?
Other ID things ?

Is there enough sales worth his effort ? I would buy 4 TM's or 50 bucks worth depending on humidly .
