Pipe Flanges wanted

A shapeways project that fits all scales . An assortment of various diameter flanges with holes and matching covers with nut and bolt detail . These can be used to add to big homemade loads for flatcars and gons . Rectangle ones are also useful .

Depending on the size, this might be a good candidate for laser cutting or photoetching.  It would probably be much cheaper too.  You could probably have them cut from thin stainless steel.

Thinking about using feedwater heater ends a filing away what doesn't look like a plain Jane flange . I would think Plastistruk would have them but I had another think coming . Drilling an evenly spaced  concentric ring of holes that doesn't look like Dost did it is hard to do with Dosts hands and eyes . I have to look into model truck rims too . Not having this as fodder ................ !!!!

Well I found brass model boat portholes on eBay from England . They look good enough for me , and the price is ok for 10 of them . They have 6 - 16 mm OD sizes . The bad thing is the seller does not combine shipping . I bet I will get them in one package though . I hate getting so obviously screwed like this .

Pipe flanges have even numbers of holes, the number dependent on the size of the pipe and the thickness is dependent on the pressure the pipe is designed for.  FYI in case it matters to you.

Why in all that is holey would it matter that the holes were evenly numbered . That sounds counter science of pipe material , pipe thickness , pressure , bolt size , and spacing . To go all even is playing Russian roulette at the risk of less flange meat or less bolts . This is just nuts .

Did you actually contact the seller to see if they will combine shipping costs?  Or do the specifically mention not combining shipping in the item description? Often they do not bother with the combined shipping through eBay as that complicates things for them, but if you ask them they will allow it. If they are ok with that then they will either send you an invoice for all your items with combined shipping or when you get ready to pay, request total from the seller making a note that you would like the total with a combined shipping cost.

I even had the eBay prevent me from requesting total at the checkout - I still contacted the seller for an invoice using standard "ask a question" link in one of the items I bought.

I have done any the actions I documented above on multiple occasions and saver myself at least some of the shipping cost.

It's doable but not as easy to make as it looks. The problem is the thickness of the materials. A 6" pipe is in N scale ø1mm. The flange would then be ø1.5mm. That's very small. Bolt holes are too small to keep open I expect. In FUD you can make the holes but they will probably be full of wax. Bolts will be 0.1-0.2mm, they can be printed but will be almost invisible.
If you want I can draw you a batch, but no guarantee that the printed items will look as expected in the digital files.

I tried , and when I sent the message asking about combined shipping it came back to me in less than 1 second stating that the seller does not combine shipping . Somehow he got eBay to talk for him .

That's 25.10 back to me , orig was £23.70 . Feeling better now .

Thanks Erik but I will live with these for now . Maybe somebody will pick up on doing these , it was nice of you to offer though .

Maybe I will drill the other half of the holes to make it an even 10 . The ones with nuts I will just glue the added 5 on . In the mean time I will be searching for plastic cover plates with perimeter holes or nuts and bolts on models , toys , and everything else . There are a ton of loads that can be made that only need these flanges on pipes and ways stuck to a main body . The best part of modeling is to have something nobody else has , the flanges makes that possible . We have many large flats , with flanges we could create a market for others to be made . The flanges need not have pipe holes in them , that's easy enough for us to do .

Yes , thank you Sir . Exactly what I was looking for . These were born 5/2015 , maybe they will follow up with holed singles in the future for un-joined pipe ends .
