Hey guys,

I am trying to get more feedback on what I can do better and what things are looking good already. This has been a project for a while now and I am finally sitting down and finishing it. My end goal is to have a club here in Utah that supports Free-moN design and gets together regularly. I have very limited space but want to at least get on loop finished within the next year. Building and adding scenery is great, but running Loco's is even better. My power right now is Guilford/Springfield Terminal. I have a variety of locomotives and am modeling that area. Very green and lush. This does not mean I have to stay within spec of the actual RR.

All photos have been shot with a Canon 7D W/Canon 40mm 2.8 (Pancake)







I have been using Bragdon powders to weather the rails and the ballast.

A bit green to my Californicated eyes, but looks great.  Given the Guilford power, I am assuming that is totally intentional ;-)

A couple loose deer or cattle (as appropriate for your area), a mow truck and some trackside litter. Othe hen hat you're golden.

Hey Philip,

I was thinking of some old track left by the way side, and maybe some logs or a n scale wood pallet perhaps, and a couple cattle would be nice.

I am really happy with how this interest point turned out. I still have a little more weathering to go on the upper wood but so far its looking very promising.

Are you really using a fixed aperture lens?  If not, you might want to decrease the aperture (higher f stop than 2.8 ) to increase the depth of field - this will require longer exposure, too.

Photography commentAre you really using a fixed aperture lens?  If not, you might want to decrease the aperture (higher f stop than 2.8 ) to increase the depth of field - this will require longer exposure, too.

I shoot anywhere from 4.0 to 9.0, I use a shallow DOF to focus on one point of the layout. Sometimes I do not feel having everything is focus would get my point across. Isn't all photography personal opinion?
When I say 40mm 2.8, that is merely just a description of the model of lens I am using.

There's only a couple of us down here so far. I haven't been pushing it too much as I've been pretty busy on loco builds. When I finish my current modules I should have about 66 feet of main line and Mike has a dozen, but we are about to start a 20 foot module set for him.

I assure you, interest is there.  It just takes a little visual persuasion to get it stirred up.  With that awesome scenery you have going on, you should be able to stir something up in no time!
Until then, don't be afraid to run solo for a little while.  Most importantly, if you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong!   :D

       There is a large Free Mo HO group up here,but with several long established N scale modular groups like "Wasatch N Scale"http://www.wasatchnscale.org it may be hard to get Fee Mo in N started .
