After a rather frustrating afternoon, I am beginning to wonder if anyone has ever successfully assembled a MT 1021 (aka 001 02 021) coupler. The box does not fit into the jig in any way that I can see, and even if it did, the jig would be pressing the T shank coupler into the box, making it impossible to get the spring in there. The instructions are little to no help (especially those with the jig, that only demonstrate the more common forward spring design, but SAY that you can use it to assemble a 1021).
I have had my trials and tribulations with MT-5s and their descendants, but I can usually put together a batch while watching TV or something. As near as I can tell, the 1021's main purpose is to support the sale of replacement springs and expand my vocabulary of cuss words.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I DID try a search, but did not come up with anything. If this has been covered in the past, a reference would be most helpful.
Thanks
