Mark:  Just out of curiosity, what is that on top of the CN caboose?

I think what you may be referring to are two ductwork overheight loads sitting on the pavement *behind* the caboose next to the engineering building.  They were delivered on flat cars the session before in a special movement.

Still plugging away on the cast concrete underpass on the Millvale diorama.  Almost ready for some paint.

Made a trip to the LHS and picked up some decals and a couple decoders.  Got decoders installed last night, real pain in the a$$ on the GP15-1 with those little power clips Atlas included on this locomotive.  Still had to add solder to the pads to get a solid connection.  Then I went to pull out some of my undec cars that I got decals for, only to find I didn't have the cars I thought I had.  I had some undec corn syrup cars but I must have sold or traded them and forgot.  I only have 2 undec kaolin tank cars.  I don't think ADM decals will look good on them.  Anyone have a couple undec Atlas corn syrup cars ?  I'll trade you  :D

Hell, just some washes with India ink and you are good to go.

What next, making one from sliced bread? That looks awesome.

Mark:  Thank you.  The angle made them look like they were very carefully fit around the cupola, and I couldn't figure out what they might be.

Aw, man, I have to follow Tom again?!  No fair.  :(  Anyhow, I got a little more ballasting (and weeds!) done this weekend:

More over on the Seaboard Central 2.0 thread in the Layout Engineering Forum.

Why not use pink ballast for variation?

are you building a new layout, or just weathering portals?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think pink ballast is very eastern Carolina.  So, I'm sticking with the safe choices of gray ballast (dark gray and gray mix).  Besides, I've ballasted most of the original HCD layout, so there's no going back now.

Thanks,
DFF

Not much done in the last few weeks, but I have been expanding my Yale collection when pieces are available on the cheap.

And, got to play with an advance batch of the new FVM wagontop caboose trucks and finally upgrade three of my New Haven hacks that were riding on MTL Bettendorfs, where Atlas leafsprings couldn't be used because the truck frames are too wide to clear the steps.  The FVM trucks will be available later this year.

I was trolling.
Maybe only @Ed Kapuscinski gets the joke.

My Grande Valley Railway Road Mate and power unit a GP38-3 on a grain transfer. Did this unit 2 years ago and never noticed till I took this pic I never finished the paint and numbers on it.GP38-3 is an original ATLAS/KATO unit that was painted in 1994.The RoadMate is a ATLAS Classic I did two years ago.
