I'm so down with the Starfleet addition.....!!!!!!!
The ex Inland paper mill in Beaumont TX. makes the finest coated sheet for corrugated printing in North America. I have used untold tonnes of this linerboard called PCL and have watched it arrive in various facilities for 30 years. Often it arrived in either SP or ATSF 50' boxcars (back in the 80's we received so much of it we got to "know" the cars....)
I wanted to add a couple of ATSF car to my fleet to represent inbound shipments of this linerboard to my corrugated plant. I chose to "almost" replicate BX66's as these were close to what I remember coming into the plant. I wanted one in the original livery and one or two in the newer version....
Before getting sick I worked on the older one, now I'm working on the newer......
Other than the number of panels the car is close. I added the skid plates at the door base and the cross bracing and used Micro Scale decals for the car. It will now be weathered and eventually have the couplers body mounted.
There were numerous series of BX66's so I chose a couple that I thought were representative of what I used to see.... Should add some switching fun to the corrugate plant.
