   Adam, it looks like screwing party is already taking shape. It will be very solid with all the all-thread your using. On mine, I dado's 1"X2" slots for the plywood for the supports and spaced them about 12" outside. It's been 15 years and it's still very solid.

do you make someone sit in there during an op session .

Instead of the long screw job .. why not cut them to 6 inch lengths, offset them slightly and and save some time .

 Yes, I do. The helix operator runs the trains in and out of the staging yard. Yes it's is a boring job.

More helix progress.  It would have been further along but I realized I didn't need 2 tracks all the way to the bottom because there is a 2" difference between the different sides on the lower level. So I tore the second track out.  Then talking with a few other modelers they suggested I could use the track to stage a train.  At first, before I tore it out I thought about it and there is no real advantage to stage anything in there, so I tore it out.  But then I thought I could put a ballast train in there that doubles as a cleaning train.  DOH !  Back in the second track went.  I installed a turnout just as you enter the helix after I laid the approach from Security.  It's an 18" radius, that's as big as I could get without moving the helix but that would cut the aisle width.  A second turnout is on the second loop of the helix where Hanover comes in slightly downgrade from helix.  The Ma/Pa diamond will be here with a turnout that leads to Sonoco Plastics.  CSX drops cars off just past the diamond on the siding, but it's a YorkRail customer so they run from Smith's into town with permission from Jacksonville over CSX tracks, shove car(s) down, make the moves and leave empties for CSX to pick up.

Vulcan Quarry is almost back to being an online customer again after receiving turnouts from @ryan_wilkerson .  Now just waiting for more flex to show up from Canada to begin again on the helix.

I need to rework that piece.  That's a recycled piece so it's got some rigidity to it.  Also the last piece I did last night at 1145pm

A lot of old industrial trackage isn’t laser straight. Unless the facility being modeled is new, I wouldn’t worry about getting the track perfectly straight. Just make sure the ballast condition matches the condition of the track.
