I've got another thought for you too.

If you have the 30 minutes or so it'd take... get some paint and paint all the foam. Even if it's going to get something else done to it in the future, just getting some paint down on it goes really far.

I will have to see what is going on that weekend ( Oct 29th-30 ? ).  My birthday is Oct 31 so family might have plans that Saturday.

At least you had the problem surface a couple days before, not the day of. Walked into an open house a few months back and found the owner under the layout unsuccessfully trouble-shooting a broken wire. Not a thing moved all day. N layout yet. Was hoping the layout would change views of HO snobs.

Anyway, hope you get a lot of visitors who are blown away and think about the possibilities of N as a result of stopping in.

Did one last thing tonight. I built an engine shed at the quarry so I wouldn't have to explain the block of pavement at end of sidings. The real location has 2 S-2 and a recently acquired SW1500 . Every time I have been around, the shed houses the 1500 and one S-2, while the other S-2 sits near the load out building. Also included a shot of the side of the building, somehow I haven't taken a picture of the building itself.

I was part of my second open house layout tour for Mainline Hobby Supply this past weekend.  Hosted about 60 visitors or so over two days, down from 100 last year.  Things were so slow on Saturday that I was able to finish up my engine shed for Bittinger.  I still need to widen the doorways a little bit more.

Next up was a set of silos near the lime loadout at Bittinger.  I went out to the garage and found some PVC.  I glued pipes together, then Saturday night I cut the roof for them out of styrene, and cut some more for a flat surface between the silos and got every thing painted.

I took a couple more pictures this week while inside the cab of my truck at Vulcan for modeling purposes.

Every month or so (varies), a loaded stone/aggregate train comes up from the southeast part of the country, usually in 28/56 100 ton hopper train length to be unloaded at this quarry.  It is unloaded on the far right track in first picture (by yellow barricade where there is a pit.  It travels under the road and up a rotating conveyor system, seen in the second photo.

And here is the engine house.  I realized tonight I won't be able to get a man door on the front, but will at least be able to get them on the sides.

Thanks to @Denver Road Doug and @MRLX1020 my ballast train grew by 7 cars.  Working on getting them decaled.  While they dry, I will work on my box of SuperTrees that need leaves added to them

Yes, the aggregate that comes in the 100 ton triple hoppers are brought in from somewhere in the southeast US, and unloaded here.  I have not been able to verify exactly where it comes from, and what it is for.    As for the quarry itself, they have at least 40-50 years worth of material left, at least.

Porters got some grass, and the ballast train came thru while I was handing out candy tonight.
