Track crews were busy replacing turnouts on the CSX Hanover Subdivision

I replaced 4 Atlas custom line turnouts with corresponding Peco turnouts on the west end ladder.

Also 3 more switched out on east end.

Now I can paint the track, ballast the rest of yard, and grime the whole place up a little bit.  Also have to figure out what to do on the backdrop.  A row of house backs up to the yard, with a fence separating the train yard from their back yards.  Trying to decide if photo printouts of backs of houses will work, or if I will need to get a bunch of back walls of kits of houses to build out some flats.

Funds are about zero now that I got those switches, so I will have to hold off on replacing turnouts in the engine tracks and Security.

Also busted out about 4 dozen trees from my sedum harvest.   Thinking some might be too big so will either cut them up and make more trees out of them, or do them as is and present them to an O Scale friend that is modeling the same line during Western Maryland times that lives about 2 miles from me.

Some of the sedum trees in the first picture will need trimmed down, with tallest trees over 10" .   Second picture most of the trees are 4-6" tall.  Sticks with lichen glued to them.  Will be covering both with ground foam as time permits.

As mentioned above, here are a couple new videos of the O scale layout where some trees might end up.  @wm3798 , you might like these even though they are big boy toys.

Is that the O scale layout near you? That was a cool thing. The owner seemed like a good guy, too.

I'm looking forward to more scenery happening there.

Yes, right at the edge of town.

Any chance that O scale guy has a web page. I would love to see some pics. Or a track plan.

All I know of is his youtube channel @svedblen  .

Can try to piece plan together from the videos, but even then not all areas are shot.  Next time I am in there, I will check with him or take pictures myself.

Ken's a regular on the Western Maryland Railway page on the Face Books...  Haven't met him in person, but he seems like a great guy.

Maybe it's time to plan a layout visit or three up that way...  I'm going to try to get to the Bluegrass Festival in Gettysburg this year... maybe then...

If you give me a heads up, I can get in touch with Ken and see if we can have a time where we are both available.

I intended to work on trees this weekend but got the bright idea that I could finish ballasting the yard first, then work on trees while it dried and I could keep an eye on the turnouts, preventing them from sticking.  Well, I got both ends of yard ballasted, as well as rest of mainline around to Ag Com.  I never did work on any trees.

Here is the west end of the yard.  No more catapults !

And here is east end.

I still have engine area, Security, and Bittinger to ballast.  Also have to do Spring Grove, paper mill area, but that will have to wait until I get more switches.  Might even go to 55  :o
