SWEET!  So it will be a modern era layout? Wonder if the new SW1500 will make those curves.

How much will you have to cut down the boiler?

I don't know yet.  I'm concentrating on the tender currently.  Refer to Jason's ATSF Blue Goose thread for a comparison, as it involves the same GS-4 work that is required for the I-5.

 Brian and others asking, the gs4 frame was an idea jason got from me.  you don't have to cut and splice the frame.  you simply take yourfdremel and remove the material where the fourth driver was until you can slide the trailing truck forward.  it takes a little ingenuity to mound the trailing truck in the way that works best for you. I originally planned to use my shortened mechanism for a high stepping Santa fe Pacific although the drivers are incorrect.  you will have to mount the motor to the frame as you will not be able to reuse the factory motor mount.  one it is shortened just chop of the back off the frame that you won't be using.

Reminds me of the SW1500 that I use to see in El Monte, Ca., on the old Pacific Electric.  The unit would arrive carless from Los Angeles while the crew tied up for lunch while the two sets of wig-wag signals for the crossings that bracketed the old P.E. would be swaying back and forth ringing their little hearts out.  The line to San Berdu was severed where the line use to cross the Espee and after lunch the switcher travel on to the east on the SP...

I miss those days but am glad to have had them as a part of my life, oh so many years ago.  Thanks, tehachapifan, for sharing your work!!!

Tom, here's the plan with item numbers for Uni Track. I did not build it as designed. I also cut one 45 degree section of 7 inch radius curve to a 30 degree angle to close a circle properly.



My spur has 6 inch curves, and in the inner passing siding is 7 inch radius alongside 8.5 inch pieces. My version of Anyrail didn't have the track sections I bought in the rack library.
