Judging by the Northern Pacific logo in your signature I'm going with one of the Maine Central's mallets.

Dang, that didn't take long.

Yeah, I'm building a logging Mallet, most of them had 44" drivers, and.....well......this thing has 64" drivers. I'm planning on it being a "what if" heavy tank mallet, I'll see how the proportions look once I get it roughed out and see where it goes from there.

I've seen the one at Black Hills, and also admired the 'stuffed and mounted' 2-6-6-2 at Flagstaff, which also had a tank for a while and even ran fan trips a couple years in the 60's out of Flag.

Here's the specs on the Baldwin 2-6-6-2's - including (surprise!) a really big class that had 51" drivers.   Who knew?

http://www.steamlocomotive.com/2-6-6-2/?page=wt

Those two big ones - Rayonier 120 and Sierra 38, holy crap.....  Look at this:  http://www.3rdrail.com/images/sierra38b.jpg

To me, without the saddle tank, the more typical Baldwin 2-6-6-2 looks kind of leggy even with smaller drivers.  Here's the well-travelled one in Flag: http://www.steamlocomotive.com/2-6-6-2/swf12-wessel.jpg
Seeing as how you have to do an articulated frame anyway, I'd be tempted to start with a pair of Atlas 2-6-0's if I was going that route.

I'll tell you Richie, when I got the Arizona Logging Railroads book (Shupert) and discovered that Southwest Forest Industries was running STEAM into Flagstaff until like... 1967, with a 2-8-0, and also had that 2-6-6-2 just a couple years earlier, and here I am modeling 1972.... If I had any space at all I'd time warp the calendar, as that was a jaw-dropper to me.  Ron Ziel missed that one in Twilight of Steam!   I already have by making a 'they woulda coulda shoulda' GE 70-tonner all done up in Southwest Forest Industries and have set up hidden storage tracks to represent the logging line connection to the south.  As a matter of fact, the shot I took of the tender on the 2-6-6-2 was used to make the decal set for the diesel.

The 2-8-0 is on display by the ex-freight house now, and the 2-6-6-2 is on the grounds of the museum.   I've looked at the Roundhouse 2-8-0 several times, it's not THAT far off, particularly if I put a smaller motor in the tender with a gearhead.

The only flaw in my logic I can see on the 2-6-6-2 Atlas idea is that the chassis has slide instead of piston valves on the cylinders.  I've fixed worse than that though.

I had a good friend of my father's that worked for Rayonier up until the end of steam, and sent me an entire envelope of the 2-6-6-2's working up there, all black and white 8x10's.  So there is a bit of a soft spot.  Will be watching the thread here with interest.

How about using Arnold Mallet as a starting point. Sure, you will need to chop off one driver, but the wheel diameter is 47".  There are plenty of them on eBay http://www.ebay.de/bhp/arnold-mallet

 Best to find aN Scale MicroAce Baldwin 0-6-6-0 which is a smaller articulated made in Japan. They do show up on that bay from time to time.
They are a great runner and can be converted to a 2-6-6-2 without to much trouble. I believe the drive wheels are a smaller diameter than the Bachmann engine you are showing. Good hunting

I don't search for the Micro Ace Lokies often but I have thought they are like hen's teeth.
