Okay, I'll go first.  The Seaboard Central is being expanded.  More over on my thread in the Layout Engineering Forum.

Man, Dave, you're making some sweet progress.  You're inspiring me...  I have the track and I have the plan (thanks again to DKS) and it should be wet tomorrow.  Good day to head to the basement and do some modeling.

But alas, a professor's work is never done.  I have several papers to read, 4 hours' worth of training to do on dual-polarization radar products, and 5 laboratory reports to grade this weekend.  Sigh...

Dave V.,

I sure would like to see you working on the Juniata Division again, but I understand.  I've got numerous deadlines for court filings coming at me like a freight train and a two-day custody hearing that starts on Monday.  So, this weekend's shot to hell.  But, I'm loving that I can sneak away to the basement for a few minutes here and there to run some trains on the expanded mainline.

My extensive progress was cutting out and painting a backdrop for this small layout:

Well, if you want something done right, you do it yourself.   ;)

No modelling for me... squeezing in a quick railfanning vacation in British Columbia's north before the snow flies (which according to the forecast is Monday).

That's got to be the ultimate in portable layouts.

Indeed. It's only 27x45mm.
All the ballast/scenery is from a crushed roofing slate, plus a few Silfor prairie tufts.

That reflects flecks of real coal . Looks tasty too . Gonna build the rest of the coal mine scene ? If it matches this it will be museum quality .

The header photo:  Looks like the Gorre & Daphetid may need a new switcher.
