I got a Walthers Union Station finished up as a custom build. It was the clients idea to highlight random blocks with a slightly different color, and I think it worked really well to subtly add interest to the walls.

Love the lighting effects too. Is that a Miller Engineering sign?

eja here  who recently had had a long running thread about problems regarding my conversion to DCC.

I found that Digitrax decoders  are thinner that my original Atlas PC boards and perform inconstantly

How did you shim them ???????????.

pretty simple... insert a small strip of .010 styrene between the chassis and the front of the decoder. it helps the decoder make contact with the frame...

Thanks, yes that's aMiller Engineering EL sign. I used 4 LEDs in the main lobby area and one each in the wings.

Congrats Phil!  Maybe you should name it something railroad themed, something with the initials of DNH (D&H) or STLH.  Bad joke, I know...

Finally went on my honeymoon, and spent the past two weeks in nine states, but primarily Virginia and Tennessee.  For being the honeymoon, I did manage to squeeze a lot of train stuff in.  O Winston Link Museum, Virginia Museum of Transportation (accidentally on the 611 moving day), Tennessee Central Railroad Museum, the Etowah Train Station Museum (although it was closed when I was there), the Little River Railroad Museum in the Smokies, and the Clinchfield Railroad museum.  This is in addition to a number of hobby shops along the way, some good, some not so much.

I would thoroughly encourage anyone that even has a passing interest in the Clinchfield go check out the CRR museum in Erwin.  Very nice lady runs the place, and they have the whole US&S CTC machine for the entire railroad in their museum.  There's not a lot online about the museum, which makes sense from the age of the caretaker, but it was so worth the drive, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Sounds like I may have just found a future road trip goal, as the Clinchfield is my favorite of the Appalachian coal haulers and the railroad (along with the Interstate) I would base a coal-hauling layout on.
Would you happen to have the street address of the museum, by any chance? It seems reachable from where I am in SC.

I finally plotted out the landscape for Holland Drive, Middle Loup, and Rosa Wye.  These modules are all operational and ready for scenery!

Got some cork down for Penn Station River City.

I picked up some caulk today, and with a little solder time, the throat should be ready to go in.

Ok, I had to censor myself here. You said "caulk," "throat," and "ready to go in," all in the same sentence.

No, I said "Ed's Law."

The caulk went in smoothly, if a little deep at times. The throat settled in without putting up too much of a fight. Had to throw a little weight on it until the caulk was set. It's all finished now, and the stickiness is all dried up.

What?  :?
