I'll tell you how old I am...I have a photo of it traveling on the rails in Hyattsville, MD enroute from Clifton Forge to the B & O Museum where it eventually ended up in the mall next door...

Hope they're not damaging it..I live right near Staemtown, never seen them move anything with the rods still on..If they're not under steam,no oil getting to the pistons..

I saw that.  But it appears they didn't move it far.

Here's another video up close. Apparently done by the WMSR or someone sanctioned by them. I had tried to add it to the above post but it didn't take.

It's a "Trains Exclusive" so you need to be a signed up site subscriber to see the article.  This was done on July 10th so it's been a few days already.  Maybe more free information will come available.

Trains News Wire EXCLUSIVE: Crews load C&O 2-6-6-2 No. 1309 for trip to Cumberland

Ah, here's a post I found at the Akron Railroad Club

http://akronrrclub.wordpress.com/tag/co-1309/

Just in... Here's a YouTube of the lift published by RailTrek Media.  Unfortunately parts are a little dark (lighting).  The groan of the flat car when the locomotive is lowered is awesome!  You can hear it around 2:35-2:40 in the video.

All the foamers, including me, are just waiting on when they will move it.  We'll be out in force for photos even if it is in the wee house of the morning.  It is loaded but no word yet then CSX will move it and if it will go the Cap/Met or OML line.

CSX moved the 1309 a few days ago.

Not sure if this link requires a Trains subscription or not.  It's linked to in the previous link

A video of parts of the journey, including an unplanned stop in Brunswick where a knocked over crossing guard causes the train to go into emergency and stop for a few minutes.

This  video shows the 1309 being delivered at the Cumberland location of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad.
