The track was laid using the side of a MTL z scale coupler height gauge to set the rails. It is probably made for much larger rail than c55 (or did I use c40?). So there is a lot of slop in the gauge. Still all my equipment ran on it or I would have fixed it. Searails Power Max, Toma Model Works 0-4-0t, Fox Valley z scale wheels all run on it.

BTW before I built this I ordered every Nn3 track gauge I could find and they were all pretty pathetic. So I stuck with old faithful.

For all I know I may have damaged the rail somehow. The rail seems to be leaning somewhat, so your guess is as good as mine. All my stuff runs well on it.

And after seeing Paul's Searails chassis in action, it is now high on my wanted list.

And after seeing that early video again, it is hard to believe that the layout in the video and the one now covered in green grass are essentially the same thing.

Paul, no I didn't think anything of it. Just explaining how it got that way. My rolling stock is probably even shorter than Cody's  :D

Fast Tracks now makes a 3 point gauge called a trifecta that is specific to rail code. So that may help fix all this.

Cody, I'm sure it was like that. Unless you put it outside in the sun  :scared:

Plus since then I have made my own rail bender out of 3 roller bearings. Back then I just formed the curve by hand and that could have the rail leaning in a curve.

If he's reading any of this update perhaps he can add some replies with prototype photos so that we can provide some of that unique brand of Railwire constructive critique and help him achieve his goals.

Here's a good one:

It was the best one I could pull a link for on my phone. I'll post some more when I get home.

Why all the upside down pics lately?  Not just you, but I saw one from John in Weekend Update too.

Holly flocking Bryan!

They must be holding their smaht phones upside-down when taking photos, and the phone is not smart enough to auto-correct that.  :)

Cody,

If possible I strongly urge you to fix the upside photos you just posted . Please take the time to orientate your iPhone or camera correctly and then use the Railwire preview button before attaching any future images. We talked about this very issue during my mentoring session at Danville, VA. You spent many hours & worked way too hard this past weekend on the static grass & scenery detail to let something as trivial as photo attachment mix-ups ruin this build documentation. Plus I'm tired of twisting my head around trying to see the details LOL :ashat:

PS. I apologize in advance if it's not entirely your fault and it turns out to be a forum software / attaching photos from smart phone issue.

Pretty sure it's a phone thing. They look OK on the phone, but once uploaded they show their real self.

I've had the EXACT same problem. I started e-mailing the pictures to myself, Downloading them from my e-mail to my computer, then doing all my replies and uploads from a computer.

I put all phone pics on my computer before uploading. If there an upside down one I fix it then. Sometimes crop too.

It probably has to do with meta data in the picture. Are you using an iPhone? It's a common problem, actually. There's utilities to strip away that data.
