Questions:
1. Price?
2. Length of blade?  Those seem shorter than the train I shot, which is a good deal for modeling as those were just crazy long.

I know, I know...I said I wasn't gonna attempt these, but I *do* have a pile of extra MTL TTX 89-footers.

I've always wanted some of these. I believe the prototype blades are 130'...maybe there are different sizes but those are what I've seen. Will you cast these? Seems they would need to be smooth and the volume of material to 3D print them might cause them to be expensive.

Nobody says these have to be solid. 3D printer can easily handle hollow objects.  :)

Yes, the cars I've seen online with this particular type of mount look to be hauling blades around that size.   Here's a few pics I found that I think may apply...

The blades I photographed on Tuesday are more in the 180' range...looked to be inset about 8-10ft from one end, (accounting for the mounting bracket) but spanning the couplers and "tipping out" the other end of the two 89-foot flats.  So I gotta think very close to that.

You're right! Nobody said solid  :D

Even with some thickness, it would use more material than most N scale items due to the length. Most of these are seen in unit trains so making it financially reasonable for 6, 12 or 24 blades would seem to be a good idea.

For the blade length, there's about as many variants as there are flat cars to carry them. This particular blade is modeled after the LM "GoBlades", which are 41.2m (~135ft)

As I mentioned in the related thread on the prototype forum, slush-casting would make nice hollow blade castings.

3D print the master, then make a mold and cast the blades?

These things mounted on converted spine cars also makes for an impressive sight....

Hmm... I need blades
selectively compressed to
fit on a Red Caboose 40'
flatcar...

The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.
