Beyond that, no other variations are mentioned. The B's have circulator detail on the firebox.

Thanks. I was worried about putting in a reservation and then finding out that they had variations in pilot or headlight details.

I'm not a SPF , but I just might have to get one of the M1's .  Question for Tony. In your opinion, Is this going to be something that I would need to preorder, or will it be available in my LHS. ....Mike

I'm sure early on you can get one without a pre-order, but if they are like the E units, they will only last a couple weeks on the shelves. Most of their products are hitting the shelves somewhere at 85-100% pre-ordered. Almost none of the popular road E-units from this last run are still available from distributors but you can still find them on the shelves here and there.

I'm going to shop around for the cheapest pre-order price before I commit.
If I find a cheap enough price, I might have to preorder a centipede set, if the PRR units are cheap enough and sold as pairs.

I won't believe anything from these people until I see the actual product in a store.

They originally announced that they were doing the M1s back when I worked at MB Klein. That was over ten years ago.

Their credibility gap is going to take more than a post to their website to close up with me.

I'm not saying it's not going to happen, but I'm also saying I would never, ever, give anyone a single cent of a deposit toward one.

Fortunately the two places I'd pre-order don't require deposits.

But I think someone at BLI is dropping the ball.  If you look at their Product Delivery Schedule page, they have multiple items, HO included that the pre-order windows are closing as soon as March 28th and they haven't even created or updated the product page on the web site yet.  Example, the next run of N scale ALCo PA are slated for Sept 2014 with a pre-order cutoff of March 21st.  But no page update to show what's being produced.  Same with the HO PRR H32 hoppers.  Cut off date of March 21st - 2 weeks away and no description of what's coming.

Since Tony just got the distributor flyer yesterday, hopefully BLW will update their pre-order page soon since I wonder how accurate it is being based on the old 2006 information.  Looks like the sound decoder has switched from a ESU LokSound to the BLI Paragon 2.  And Tony said no non-sound, non-DCC options which are still listed on both the BLI site and BLW's pre-order page.

(Street) prices don't seem out of line to me versus other recent sound-equipped models. Until very recently wasn't it nearly a $100 premium for sound? I do have some annoyance with their bundling, however - the UP version is only offered as a pair, and I agree that gets pricey for a novelty "almost happened" fantasy scheme. I took a hit on the most recent E8/9 release - I only needed a dummy B, and it was not available without a powered A. The A will show up in Trading Post sooner or later. Maybe they think UP modelers have more to spend on trains than others? I dunno. :|

I'm puzzled by their illustration of the UP model, however, indicating road numbers of 1600 and 1601. The UP Centipedes were (to be delivered as) 998 and 999. 1600/1601 were FA-1s. It's bad enough that it's a foob, but then they fumble the road numbers actually assigned by the RR? Really? I wouldn't mind having a pair for the "nearly was" factor, but given BLI's propensity for bulletproof paint I would not risk trying to renumber them, so frankly my money is staying in my wallet.

I had thought about the UP units but between only really wanting one unit and now I find out that's they were never painted UP colors, I may have to pass.  I knew that UP did not actually buy them but I am under the impression that several of the more exotic engines UP ran where actually owned by the manufacturer and painted in UP colors.  Not sure if I want one bad enough for the  price of one Pennsy engine.

Got a notice from BLW that they've changed the part numbers, so all preorders were cancelled. I re-upped my preorder for M1's and added a set of centipedes.

Would the M1's ever pull the Broadway Limited from Kato?
