West Coast Asshats

I was unable to attend the show in Washington where a number of Asshats were present and wish I could have been there.  I was thinking, since we belong to a East Coast centric forum and our superior West Coast are roads generally treated as an oddity in most discussions, we should organize.  I think it's important that we show our unfortunate east coast brothers  that living in a part of the country where the sky is really blue and not humid grey, none of our cars are rotting bottom up from salt nor  have to hunker down in dark basements 9 months out of the year to pursue our hobby, deserves equal respect.  :D  While we don't have as many shows on the West coast as they do on the other side of the continental divide (we get to spend more time outside playing...yes that smell is fresh air) there are notable ones and with a list of those and folks within traveling distance, could more formalize our meetings.  I think it's something I could convince the Underlord of Marketing at MTL to throw some support behind to make it interesting in some fashion.  Regardless, I bet there are enough of us who lurk in the shadows on Railwire, shy, and not willing to gamble on the occasional verbal New Jersey style knee capping that sometimes happens, that would like to get together in a more supportive, catered event as we are used to out here. :D

I can get the ball rolling, but looking for input, suggestions, insults or directions to a great coffee house near you.  With the NMRA in Portland next year, I think we can build to something fun and interactive during the event and show the folks back east it is possible to have tan lines and be a model railroader.

Thanks

Joe MTL

Anxious to hear more details when they are known.  There is good show in the Portland area next month called Meet-N-March.  I'll have to find the date and location tomorrow.

We missed you at Monroe, Joe, Maybe next year.
But, Hey, I'm in for anything we can do to get together. If you need help, let me know.
We ( Mt. Rainier N-Scale) will be at the NMRA next year with a bunch of cool new stuff.

Joe,
I like the idea and would be game. I'm located near Sacramento, CA and make trips up to Dunsmuir periodically. I hear we have a mutual friend who lives there too.

I'd be up for it, and with enough warning could def plan a road trip.

But seems I'm on the wrong side of the Cascades compared to the others in WA state.

The Roving Rapido Roadshow team ("One bite" Dan "Yoda" Garcia and yours truly, his faithful companion Puddy) have been strongly cinsudering a trip to said event.... This idea serves to strengthen that notion and would be an outstand chance to surround Yoda with a swarm of talented N scalers and A@@hats to boot.....
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Joe,
That is pathetic. If that is what you have to do to motivate Great Upainted Guppies and Better than Nothing Greenbergs there is no hope for you. Best transfer to a great eastern road and get on with it. LOL.

Hello Joe:

Great idea.  I am sure that many of the modelling community here in beautiful British Columbia will be travelling down for Portland 2015.

There is good show in the Portland area next month called Meet-N-March.  I'll have to find the date and location tomorrow.

The Meet N March show this year is on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Valley Catholic High School in Beaverton, Oregon:

Also a good opportunity for Railwire members to converge.  I am hoping to get down there this year.

I seem to recall you had nothing but nice things to say about your visit to Portland, Oregon.

I used to travel up and down the left coast all of the time for work but these days I spend most of my time in Sacramento but would love to see the West Coasters get better organized so we can take on that 'other' coast.

Hey look, a thread that hasn't had anyone even mention a Pennsy steam locomotive...oh darn!
