Has anyone come up with a good solution for lowering an Atlas 25500 Tank Car?

Then you have to figure out how to get the body mounts on.

Yes, Gary's Lowering thread in the "best of" section had some good ideas.

Grant Eastman (sp?) has an article in the current N Scale Railroading on making brackets to mount couplers for tank cars and such without drilling into the end platforms.

The only solution I have employs BLMA trucks and Z scale couplers with custom pockets.  I have not used this combo on a 25K tanker yet, but I have on the new 20K tanker with good results:

Ed Nadolski might still be able to hook you up with some pockets.  Send him a PM if you're interested in trying this.

P.S. Grant's solution would work too, but requires more surgery.

Gary,
Tanks look great! Did you drill the hole for the screw to hold the brass pocket, or does the 20K tank have a screw in that spot already?.... ?  I don't think the 25.5 has a screw there, but I don't have one to look at rite at this moment..... The white tank with the conversion looks better...but the black tank doesn't really look too bad stock in your photo...lol
