Does anyone know off the top of their heads, if an Atlas GP38-2 shell will fit a Walthers/Lifelike frame and chassis?

I believe that it will. I know someone who did the opposite and put a Walthers GP38-2 shell on an Atlas GP38-2 mechanism, and all he modified was the light-block in the cab.

+1.  I have two Walthers GP38-2s that are installed on Atlas mechanisms.  They required no modification.  The other way around might require the modification that Christian mentioned.  But it's easy peasy.
