Dave,

If you need decals, have you contacted John Frantz at Mt Vernon Shops?  He has done special runs for people before.

Thanks,

Scott

Ahem... John? Care to chime in?

Edit: Looks like Bob is offering them in another thread here on TRW! Hurray! Thanks!

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Thanks for the plug Scott. It took about 48 hours for the admin to approve my request for an account on here. I'd been following the thread since one of my N Scale buyers emailed me the link screaming at me to fill the void.

I see now that Bob has found his own source for doing them. However, all he would have needed to do was email me through my website and it would have been fit into the schedule.

I've found that the N Scale decal market can be very fickel. So, I usually don't get a lot printed. You're fortunate that bob is bringing some models to fruition that otherwise you wouldn't get at all.

So, if there are any needs in the future, shoot me an email. I'm pretty easy to find. www.mountvernonshops.com

John,
I'm curious about how you print the decals? Screen printing, Alps printer or some other method?  How about your rates? What is the minimum order quantity? What artwork formats do you accept?  I looked over your website and catalog but I didn't find any answers there.

Okay, I ordered an H30 and placed the GRa on my "wish list."  Ordered decals too.

I still need to build my G22b and N6 cabin, but I also need to finish building my workshop and layout room first!

Pete,

I actually do not print my own. I just design them. I primarily use 2 printers depending in colors and quantity. For single color stuff, with a minimum run of 25 sheets I use Rail Graphics, although he still screens them by hand and sometimes has issues with high-resolution artwork. It depends on what it is. (Half of my job as a decal maker is to give you stuff that you want to believe is correct, so even if its just a "blob" on the screen, that "blob" means something and your eye will make you think it's something important once its on the model.) I also use Microscale for multi-color high quantity work. Unlike RG whom has a maximum width of 4.25", the Microscale maximum sheet size is 4.75" x 7.75", more importantly though, they're minimum run is 250 sheets. So, it's a trade off.

I have used some Alps decal printers too for some custom/limited run stuff that wasn't cost effective otherwise.

For the most part, if its a prototype road and there's acceptable models of it in the marketplace i'll do it and add it to my regularly in stock line. With custom stuff I address it on a case by case basis as time and money allow.

Thanks for the inquiry.

Just got an update email that the first sheets of decals are on their way for inspection.

I'll post more info as soon as they arrive.

Last I saw, you had them in an MTL gondola for a photo op.  Maybe they still are with the gon.

Negative.  The gon is empty on the layout and I clearly recall repackaging them with their unused decal sheet.

You have my empathy; I still haven't found all of my DVDs and VHS tapes, including many railroad-related ones, since we moved eighteen months ago.   :x
