Every time I see those photos I think - man Phil, you ALMOST look like you know what you're doing!

But now that you've done this thread, how will you write the three-part article for NSR on the transformation?

Seriously though, I took most of the photos using my phone, so they're probably not magazine ready.

All that said though, this whole thing feels much more like an MRP article than an NSM or NSR one.

Made some more progress recently.

I've been having a good time running mini-sessions of pulling some cars from the A/D tracks and classifying them up. Here are two cuts ready to go.



Then, a few weeks ago I filled in the old turntable pit. I've still got it, so Lee can send it back to Walthers with a "For Rectal Use Only" sticker attached. I cut a styrofoam plug and glued it in place. Then I painted it and the surrounding former engine servicing area black (to form a base for that good oily "muck" that seemed to cover old engine terminals.


And tonight I started taping out the next round of benchwork: the north end.



I took a panorama too. It's pretty dark because I hadn't turned all the lights back on.



And, of course, with new construction comes some deconstruction. I separated the old helix section, pulled the salvageable track out of it and have separated it for easy disposal. If anyone is interested in the helix structure, let me know. It's yours...



And, lastly, I'm having a hard time getting rid of one of my favorite scenes from Lee's WM: Rockwood PA.


Still don't know what I'm going to do with it, but I can't seem to bring myself to do anything to it.

The location is Greenwood.  Sadly, I sold off the Hard Hat already (you might be able to negotiate something with eric220) but I still have the other buildings.  What became of the concrete underpass?

The helix subroadbed is 32", the outer track is 30", the inner about 28.5.  It rises two and half turns, from 12:00 on the bottom to 9:00 on the upper.  Did you take the track off of the helix?  or just the approaches?

The concrete underpass is whole and waiting for delivery to Timmah.

I'm happy as much is being saved as possible. I really loved that scene, but there's no way to fit it in, so I'm glad it's finding a new home.

I took the track off the helix though. I have plans for it...  :D

Hate to bug you with yet another question but I couldn't find the answer on Lee's blog. What size turnouts did he use in the yard? Are they all Atlas? If so are they #5's or 7's or a mixture?
