This is what he was working on when he died.  He was going for the exact kind of bridge I'm planning.  I guess this whole project is a bit of an homage to the old boy...

Here's his old radio cabinet rig.

Shame to hear that he has passed away...
His PRR A5 looks smashingly good and I was wondering what he used for the shell...

Oh man, I forgot about Gregg's last project. That layout was really shaping up to be cool too.

I'm wondering what he used for the marsh grass...  That's pretty good looking...

I agree with Phil.I have some of that on the home layout and it looks just like that.To bad the rest of my layout doesn't look that good.

With the help of DKS and input from the BWI a$$hat crew, we've come up with this track plan:

Lee

That is a really interesting plan Lee. I'm tempted to go out and get another HCD and create a version of that layout, with a couple of modifications.

I really like the concept and the scenic possibilities with the plan.

This project should cover your topic needs for the next couple magazine columns.

Actually Blazeman, I'm going for the full tamale... a feature article!  I can only dream of achieving the accolades of Dr. Vollmer...  Hopefully MR will begin publishing an annual called "Pretty good, or maybe Fair to Middlin' Model Railroads"...  Then I might have a shot at it!

Nice idea!
I don't quite understand how the junction is going to be operated. Are the tracks that end at the edges of the layout a suggestion of the world beyond, or are they supposed to act as staging?

That end of the plan will be tucked into the cabinet, so they're only a suggestion of the world beyond.
I'm sure at some point this will drive me absolutely mad, but a man's got to know his (and his space's) limitations!

Well... the best laid plans of mice and men...  Came in to work the other day to find that my crew sold the cabinet out of from under me...  Sticking with the track plan, though.

I'm sure another cabinet will come through the store soon enough.
